How to Create an Account for Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Classes All new users must create an account prior to registering or reserving. Once you have an approved account, you will just need to log in. Accounts will be approved Monday through Friday during normal business hours. You may browse our site as a guest but must have an account to register or reserve.

• Create a new online account by going to http://register.siouxfallsparks.org.

• Complete account information. Items in red are required fields.

• Once you have been approved, you will receive an email. Proceed to follow the instructions.

• Then you may begin to use the website features.

• If you have forgotten your password, you can request that it be reset. An email will be sent with a link with instructions.

• Once you find a class/program you wish to attend, click on the plus sign to the left of the class and then click “add to cart.”

• Click on appropriate family member then click “continue.”

• View cart and proceed to checkout or continue shopping.

• Enter payment information to complete purchase.

• Upon successful completion, you will receive an email confirmation/receipt.

Cancellations and Refunds

Pursuant to Section 92.211 Code of Ordinances of Sioux Falls, SD

Program/class cancellations must be made up to 48 hours in advance of class by calling the Park Office at 605-367-8222. Please have your original receipt number ready. If paid by credit card, a refund will be credited back to the card. Payments made by cash or check less than $25 will be refunded by crediting the online account for future purchases. Payments made by cash or check more than $25 will be refunded by check, sent to the account address on file. Purchases made with a gift card are nonrefundable; however, a credit will be applied to Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation online account. If less than a 48-hour notice, no refund or credit will be issued.

All programs operate with a minimum/maximum capacity. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, change, or combine programs when minimum class enrollment has not been met. If Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation cancels a program/class, refunds/credits will be made as stated above.

Wait List Once a class is filled, a wait list will be created. A limited number of spots are available on the wait list. Please click to be placed on the wait list. You will not be charged at that time. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will contact you should a spot become available. We will collect payment upon registration.

BODY SLIDE AND DIVING BOARD HOURS The Body Slide, Diving Boards, and Interactive Play Feature have limited hours based on other programming opportunities scheduled.

The Body Slide and Dumping Bucket will not be operational during swimming lessons.

Diving Boards will not be available every Mon and Tue. Dumping Bucket and Body Slide schedule: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat at 9:30 a.m.; Tue and Thu at 10:30 a.m.

Start time will be 12 noon on the following Saturdays due to lessons: SEP 30, OCT 7, 14, 21, 28.

HELPFUL HINTS • No outside food or beverage is allowed.

• Guests are encouraged to bring their own lock and use on-site lockers to secure personal items. Items cannot be stored overnight in the lockers.

• Swimmers must wear swimsuits, which must include linings and have adequate coverage. Compression shorts are allowed underneath a swim suit. No other undergarments may be worn as they are not permitted for health reasons.

• Infants/children not toilet trained and incontinent adults must wear snug plastic pants under their swimsuits or a swim diaper.

• Towels are not provided, please bring your own.

• Swimsuit dryers are available in the locker rooms and family changing room corridor.

CURRENT CHANNEL Water Walking will be available for independent fitness. Use the resistance of the Current Channel to give yourself a good workout!

Lap lanes are provided for those wishing to keep fit through continuous lap swimming. All swimmers must be able to demonstrate lap swimming etiquette. Participants will need to have an active swim pass or pay daily admission rates.

The daily pass allows you access to the facility from the time of purchase to the end of the operation day.

Swimming Lessons

LANE RENTALS

Midco® Aquatic Center is a provider of American Red Cross Learnto-Swim courses. Swimming lessons will be available for all ages and abilities. Not only does learning to swim allow for you to be safe in and around the water, it also has many other added benefits. Learning to swim provides a lifelong skill that can provide fitness opportunities, improve your health, provide strength and coordination, and provide confidence in the water and motivation to continue to improve skill proficiencies.

The Midco® Aquatic Center offers lane rentals in the 50 Meter Pool.

There are opportunities for 25-yard lane rentals and 50-meter lane rentals. Contact the Midco® Aquatic Center office at 367-POOL (7665) for lane availability, reservations, and policies and guidelines.

Room Rentals The Midco® Aquatic Center has four rooms available for rentals.

These rooms are perfect for parties, meetings, and social gatherings.

Contact the Midco® Aquatic Center Office for room availability, reservations and policies and guidelines, and to be connected with the concessionaire.

• No outside food or beverage allowed.

• The Dive In can accommodate your party needs from food to decorations. Various party packages are available to view at www.TheDiveIn.com.

Each room provides a 65” smart TV, full-size refrigerator, sink, and microwave. Rental includes tables and chairs set up to accommodate your reservation needs.

• Room Rental Costs: $50 per hour, per room.

• Estimated Capacity: 30–40 people per room (60–80 combined).

Rooms 3 and 4 Rooms 3 and 4 can be used individually, or as one large room. These rooms provide access to the 50 Meter Pool. Each room provides a 48” smart TV. Rental includes tables and chairs set up to accommodate your reservation needs.

• Room Rental Costs: $50 per hour, per room.

• Estimated Capacity: 10–20 people per room (20–40 combined).

• A transferable pass to be redeemed only toward the cost of admission at the Midco® Aquatic Center, outdoor swimming pools, and outdoor aquatic centers.

• This pass is sold in increments of no less than $50 at a 10% reduction to the face value of the pass purchased.

Water Fitness Fall/Winter Classes Stay Strong: Functional Fitness #920020

Warm Water Pool

This 60-minute Warm Water Pool class is designed to assist you in improving your strength and cardiovascular health. This light-tomoderate-intensity class format combines body resistance and water exercise equipment with light to moderate aerobic exercise. During the 60 minutes of instruction, class participants will strengthen their major muscle groups as well as improve range of motion of all muscles and joints. Improvement of flexibility, balance, and stamina can be expected. The movements and cardio activity are different for every class in order for your body to receive optimal benefit for your physical health!

Water aerobics is easier on your bones and joints than running, but still provides the benefits of an aerobic workout. COMMUNITY CENTERS

COMMUNITY CENTERS Community Centers The Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Community Centers are joint ventures between Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and the Sioux Falls School District. Facilities may include one to three meeting rooms, a kitchen, a game room, a computer lab, and a gym with either three volleyball courts or two basketball courts.

All community centers and enlarged gyms will be closed: • October 9 • November 10 • November 23 • December 24–25 • January 1–2

Community Centers offer a safe and fun place to enjoy a variety of activities and programs for people of all ages and abilities. Holiday Break Open Gym Hours: Open gym, game room, and computer lab hours will be 1 to 5 p.m. on the following dates: • November 22 • November 24 • December 26–29

• Community Center closures due to inclement weather will be aligned with the inclement weather closures of the Sioux Falls School District.

• Program hours are subject to change on holidays and public school early dismissal or vacation days. Please contact the community center(s) for specific information.

• Age Policy for Open Gym and Game Room—A five-children-to-one-adult ratio will be enforced for children 6 years and younger. Adult must be 16 years or older.

Meeting Room Reservations Each community center has at least one large meeting room. Meeting areas are equipped with tables, chairs, TV, DVD, and dry erase boards.

Court Rentals The cost is $25 per court hour, which is nonrefundable and payable by credit card at the time of the reservation. Reservations for court rentals will be taken from September 25 through December 21 by calling the respective community center.

Parks and Recreation has three sites available for dog off-leash areas: • Family Park—Located at 300 North Ellis Road, near West 12th Street on the Tea/Ellis Road. The new park amenities include fencing, concrete walkways, irrigated open space, bench seating, shade structures, drinking fountains, dog wash stations, and natural dog play features.

• Lien Park—Located on the east side of North Cliff Avenue at the Big Sioux River, approximately one-quarter mile north of the Rice Street and Cliff Avenue intersection. Parking is available.

• Spencer Park—Located at 3501 South Cliff Avenue by I-229.

This is a permanently fenced dog park with off-street parking available.

Hockey Rink & Skate Park Rules Availability of these skate parks in the future may be dependent on patrons’ compliance with the following: • Skate at your own risk. The skate parks and inline hockey rinks are not supervised. Users assume all risks inherent in the use of these facilities. Use of these facilities may result in serious injury or death.

• It is strongly recommended that users wear an approved helmet, knee and elbow pads, and wrist guards.

• The hockey rinks are open to inline skaters and roller skaters only.

• The skate park is open to skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX riding only. No other wheeled devices of any kind are allowed within the skate park. Food and drink are not allowed inside the rink areas. Glass, alcohol, and smoking are prohibited.

Youth Cross-Country Meets Morningside Park The Sioux Falls Area Running Club, along with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and Runner’s Block, will host three kids cross-country meets this fall. The three-race cross-country series is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
