AGES: 2–5 Gather your friends at our “house” to play, create, and socialize. Our playgroups are open for kids from infant age to prekindergarten age. We will provide the equipment and toys while parents and adults provide the supervision. A 5-to-1 ratio of children to adults must be observed. No registration required.

Throughout history, nature has provided both artists and musicians with inspiration. To celebrate International Day of Forests, kids will investigate nature’s orchestra through listening to the sounds around them and creating sounds of their own! Parent participation required. Come to this introductory class on tee-ball, where your little one can learn to play the sport, or practice the skills that they already have! We will be practicing throwing, hitting, and fielding. AGES: 4–5 Join us for some fun Big Wheel Races! Your little ones will get an opportunity to showcase their speed and bike control and go head to head against their peers in this speed and skill-based race. Prizes will be given out to those that turn the fastest laps as well as who comes out on top in our head-to-head competition. Bring your own Big Wheel bike or borrow one of ours! GENERATION POUND
KUEHN C.C. AGES: 6–12 Generation POUND® is a youth-oriented program that fuses movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness, and teamwork skills. By combining exercise and interactive activities, students will learn new ways to explore movement, embrace their creativity, and ROCK OUT—ultimately building strength, confidence, and self-awareness. OYATE C.C. AGES: 6–9 Soaking in a hot bath is a health-promoting ritual that soothes the muscles and hydrates the skin. In this class, you will have the opportunity to create, mix, and make your very own bath bombs and bath salts. You will also get to choose the scent and color to make bath time even better. All supplies provided to make and take between 10 and 12 bath bombs and a jar of bath salts. Registration required.

FAMILY PARK AGES: 6–9 Birdwatching can assist kids in building patience, concentration, and observation while allowing them to develop a crucial connection to the natural world. We will play a bird beak game, learn a few different birdcalls, and go on a scavenger hunt in search of birds throughout our surroundings while learning how to properly use binoculars. ARROWHEAD PARK AGES: 6–9 Get in the spirit of Earth Day by participating in Earth Day Explorers! Studies show that spending time in nature can reduce stress and anxiety and even promote emotional development in children. Participants will participate in an Earth Day service project, craft, and other outdoor-themed activities. Participants must be prepared to spend the day outside, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle. Registration required.

FALLS PARK OPEN AIR SHELTER AGES: 6–9 Come learn the secret behind how a plant grows. Children who garden have shown an increased level of responsibility, self-awareness, and a higher likelihood to eat healthy foods including fruits and vegetables. After learning from an expert gardener, participants will decorate a flowerpot and then plant their very own plant in it to take home. PARENT AND ME PICKLEBALL CHALLENGE
TERRY REDLIN AGES: 6–9 Looking for something fun and competitive and a way to bond with your little one? Join us for our Parent and Me Pickleball Challenge! This challenge is sure to bring the fun while you both enjoy one of the fastest growing sports! Pickleball is a fun paddle sport, designed for all ages and skill levels. With simple rules and elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, the game is easy for beginners but quick and competitive for more experienced players. Join us for a Saturday of Pickleball and put your skills to the test in this bracket format challenge. Register by 5 p.m. on April 18 to be guaranteed a one-of-a kind T-shirt! Registration required.

PAPER AIRPLANES FREE
UPPER TERRACE PARK AGES: 4–17 Building paper airplanes can teach you the basics of aerodynamics and flight. In this program, we invite you to try out folding paper to make that perfect airplane. Each participant will build three airplanes. The planes will be built to see which one can stay in the air the longest, which plane can go the furthest, and which one can land on a target. Prizes will be awarded for each category. Join us on National Paper Airplane Day for this family friendly event and see if your child has what it takes to be a great pilot. INTRO TO ACTING WORKSHOP

MARICAR C.C. AGES: 13–17 Partnering with Dakota Alliance Soccer, we bring you Futsal! Futsal is a fast-paced version of soccer with a couple of twists. One of the major differences is that Futsal is played indoors. The game is played 5 vs. 5 rather than a traditional 11 vs. 11 soccer match, giving everyone plenty of playing time to make a difference! Futsal also utilizes a special weighted indoor ball to ensure maximum control. Join us for some fun, and bring your family to join in at the end! Don’t have a team? AMPHIBIAN EXPEDITION
TUTHILL PARK AGES: 10–12 Salamanders, frogs, and other amphibians emerge once the snow turns to rain, robins begin foraging, and different springtime plants emerge in the forests. Join us in our search for different amphibians through logrolling, rock flipping and a soil survey. Registration required.
KUEHN C.C. AGES: 10–12 “Troll in the dungeons! Troll in the dungeons! Thought you ought to know!” This is the start of a scene from the Philosopher’s Stone, when the mountain troll is loose in Hogwarts. In this fun class, we will be using chemistry to make troll bogeys magnetic slime. We will also be making a magic wand, so that with a swish and a flick, you can defeat this troll. We will also be burning some energy by playing quidditch. This class will make your eyes LUMOS with excitement!! Registration required.

ARTHRITIS AQUATICS—NEW!
MIDCO® AQUATIC CENTER AGES: 18+ The Basic Arthritis Aquatics program is a group exercise class geared toward participants with different ability levels. It is designed to improve range of motion, balance, muscle strength, and endurance. Participants improve joint flexibility and stiffness supported by the buoyancy and resistance of the water. The 45–50-minute class will be held twice a week in the warm water pool. If you have recently had a joint replacement or are planning to have one, this is the class for you. Registration is required and limited to 15 per class. Water shoes are recommended.

AGES: 18+ Bunco is a parlor game played in teams with three dice. When you roll “three of a kind” of the number you are currently rolling, this is a Bunco. Come out and learn how to play this fast-paced dice game and enjoy the socialization of the evening. Registration required.

KENNY ANDERSON C.C. AGES: 18+ In recognition of National Plant a Flower Day, we invite you to join us to learn how to make your own wooden planter box. Wood pieces will be precut. You will have a hammer and nails to put it together. When you are done, you can decorate it, fill it with potting soil, and add some seeds. Water every other day and watch as your creation comes to life. All supplies will be precut and provided. Registration required.

MIDCO® AQUATIC CENTER AGES: 18+ Yin is a deep stretch class where postures are held for two to seven minutes to help stretch body parts such as fascia, tendons, and ligaments while stressing joints and activating meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. The practice creates greater flexibility and mobility. We recommend this class to anyone that lives an active lifestyle, and believe this could benefit all athletes, yogis, as well as those dealing with chronic low back pain. The group will also discuss the different resources that are available within the Sioux Falls area and teach participants some basic coping skills they might find helpful in managing emotions. MORNINGSIDE C.C. AGES: 18+ Partnering with Dakota Alliance Soccer, we bring you Futsal! Futsal is a fast-paced version of soccer with a couple of twists. One of the major differences is that Futsal is played indoors. The game is played 5 vs. 5 rather than a traditional 11 vs. 11 soccer match, giving everyone plenty of playing time to make a difference! Futsal also utilizes a special weighted indoor ball to ensure maximum control. Join us for some fun and bring your family to join in at the end! Don’t have a team? Introducing for the first time to Sioux Falls, our newest sport, Footvolley. This “samba” filled sport was created in Brazil, and mixes multiple aspects from both volleyball and soccer. Footvolley combines field rules that are based on those of beach volleyball while having ball-touch rules used in soccer. Essentially, footvolley is beach volleyball except players are not allowed to use their hands, and a football replaces the volleyball. LIFEGUARD CLASSES AQUATIC CERTIFICATION CLASSES CALLING ALL LIFEGUARDS! Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department wants YOU to work as a certified lifeguard during our year-round swimming season. We’re excited about building a great team of professional lifeguards and therefore, reserve the right to hire only the most qualified applicants for all positions and do not guarantee employment based on training completion. This course is a blended learning course format (19.5 hours in person, 7.5 hours online). The prerequisites for this course include being 15 years of age and having passed the precourse swimming skills test. WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR COURSE MIDCO® AQUATIC CENTER
This dynamic American Red Cross course teaches the dedicated individual how to instruct infants, children, and adults in water safety and swimming lessons. Water Safety Instructors are in high demand and teaching people to swim is a fun, rewarding part-time job for people of all ages. Upon completion of the WSI course, participants will be certified to teach American Red Cross swimming lessons. A major portion of this class will be done online using the blended learning format. The daily pass allows you access to the facility from the time of purchase to the end of the operation day.
Shall be effective May 1 through Labor Day, and include the Midco® Aquatic Center, outdoor aquatic centers, and outdoor swimming pools. The outdoor aquatic facilities’ season of operation is generally between the months of May through August as established annually by Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation.
Shall be effective all operational days at the Midco® Aquatic Center beginning on Labor Day and ending April 30 of the following year.
