LAMBRETTA INTRO
Intro Hello folks! Alongside the trusty Vespa, Lambretta scooters can also be considered as Italian classics and are one of the most produced scooter makes of all time worldwide. The Lambretta name is derived from the river ‚Lambro‘, which flows close to the Innocenti factory in Milan. The main trade of the Innocenti company prior to scooter production was the production of steel tubes and pipes for numerous uses. During the second world war they were mainly concerned with the manufacture of artillery shell casings and vehicle parts. The idea for the first Lambretta scooter design was hatched out by the firms owner - Ferdinando Innocenti - and an engineer by the name of Pierluigi Terre. Their common aim was to create an economical and affordable form of transport for the common population of post-war Italy. At the beginning, various models were designed and built by the company Innocenti in Italy. Later on, licence vehicles such as the NSU in Germany or the Spanish Serveta came into being around the world. In 1971, production in Italy was stopped. Scooter India Ltd bought all production machinery in 1972 and continued to produce the DL models until the 1990s. In 2011, the new Lambretta LN was unveiled by Motom Electronics Group at the Italian EICMA trade fair. It was introduced into the market in 2012 with 125cc/150cc engines. Two years ago in 2014, the British manufacturer Scomadi presented a modern version of the Lambretta called the ‚Scomadi TL‘ at the Cologne two-wheeler congress ‚Intermot 2014‘. These modern scooters have now been in production since 2015 and are available in most countries in Europe. The ‚Turismo Leggera‘ (TL) models owe the design of their outer appearance to the final Lambretta produced, the Lambretta DL/ GP, although technically considered both the 50cc and 125cc four stroke automatic motors have little in common with the original Italian machines. SPEEDOMETER / REV COUNTER SIP Since its introduction in 2010, the SIP Rev Counter has revolutionised the classic scooter speedometer market. Features, previously requiring the inclusion of extra instrumentation, have now been integrated into its design with maximum understatement. Several years and countless customer requests have culminated in us getting together again with the people at KOSO to develop an update to our first generation SIP Rev counter that we can truly be proud of : The SIP Rev counter/Speedometer 2.0!
can be set up individually. The total number of kilometres travelled, recorded by your original speedometer unit, can also be transferred to the km value displayed. In combination with the fast flow fuel tap, with fuel reservesensor, all Lambretta series 3 models can now benefit from a fuel level warning function. To indicate the ebbing level in your fuel tank ‚FUEL‘ starts to blink on the electronic display. In addition, it also improves the voltage regulation of your complete electrical system.
Its outer appearance remains strikingly similar to that of the original item and its additional functions are virtually invisible when not in use. The design of the speedometer face is also largely identical to that of the Italian original with kilometer scaling along with the general dimensions of the unit.
Notice: Please use interference suppressed sparkplugs and resistor caps.
Installation could hardly be simpler and requires no special knowledge. It can measure your speed with the conventional speedometer cable and drive assembly or alternatively with the inclusion of the, separately available, electronic wheel revolution sensor kit. The speedometer function can then no longer be interrupted due to failing speedometer drive worms or cables and in addition its accuracy is also improved. The rpm value is determined through its connection to the light signal supplied by the wiring loom. All data recorded by the device are saved for future reference by an internal storage facility. The unit is run on 12V AC/DC and requires no battery in the electrical system of your scooter. It is also fully compatible with Vespatronic and Parmakit performance ignition systems. To adjust and scroll through the functions on the electronic display a small button is included, which can be easily and inconspicuously located beneath the scooters existing light switch. A new feature of the 2.0 version is the choice between an analogue speedometer or rev counter. The speedometer needle can be used to display either speed or rpm. During longer trips you can also record the total time of your journey and the average speeds for both daily stages and the whole tour, which

This kit is not only suitable as a direct ‚Plug and Play‘ eplacement for your worn existing cylinder on Series 1-3 ‚smallblock‘ motors, but also lends itself to the more ambitious road tuning projects. The same is also true of its ‚Big Brothers‘ in this range of cylinders. RACING CYLINDER IMOLA 186CC for Lambretta 125 LI/Special/GP/DL/150 LI/Special/SX/GP/DL/175 TV An extremely tasty item available in the form of the Imola Racing Cylinder. In combination with a 28mm carburettor and an Ancelotti exhaust system the Imola kit produces approximately 18 PS, equivalent to a VESPA T5 model equipped with an unported MALOSSI 172cc cylinder. Both set ups have a very similar delivery of power. This can of course be (in both cases) improved dramatically with the use of a reed valve manifold, ensuring a greater volume of fuel/air mixture to be available, so enhancing power, especially in the lower end and the middle of the rev. range. If you think cubes are cool, then you cannot go wrong with along stroke crankshaft on the small block motor to reach 200cc with the added incentive of a possible 20 ps !

TUNING GASKET SETS / BEARINGS / CRANKSHAFTS
CRANKSHAFT The crankshaft is one of the most heavily used components on a scooter. It turns several thousands of times per minute, and the performance of an engine depends on its quality. Minimum production tolerances, high rev endurance, low bearing clearance and exceptionally high durability of the crankshaft are the basis for optimum engine tuning. For this reason we only offer crankshafts that are made in Italy and which convince through their uncompromising levels of quality. The standard crankshafts have a stroke of 58mm and a 107 series conrod. The TV175 is fitted as standard with the 116 series con-rod. Replacing the original 107mm with a 110m con-rod is possible in order to make the engine run more quietly. The longer stroke is balanced out by a 3mm base gasket. The lighter racing crankshafts have a polished con-rod which contributes to reducing turbulence. When using a full circle crankshaft, the charge level and primary compression increase (for this reason we use the designation HPC = high primary compression). In combination with a long stroke of 60 or 62mm this results in further torque and also boosts performance. Both types of crankshaft are specially designed for peak performance and are also made from extremely high quality and hard wearing material. This means they are optimal for engines and high performance setups.

Under high pressure and/or a high numbers of revs, however, enormous forces impact on the entire cone, which the small point of the 21mm cone is not always able to reliably withstand. As a rule, the following applies here: the thicker the cone, the more stable and/or more suitable for tuning purposes. With powerful engines it is important to use a crankshaft with a thick DL/GP cone. Order the oil seal and bearings at the same time!
In contrast to the Vespa, the cone for the Lambretta is only available in two versions which can be swapped with each other. The larger cone (measured directly after the oil seal seat) was originally only in the engine of the DL/GP, the smaller cone on all the other models tapers

RACING EXHAUST JL KRP for Lambretta 125-200cc We at SIP Scootershop have enjoyed a very close friendship, over many years, with Jim Lomas who is responsible for the development and/ or production of virtually every successful expansion chamber exhaust system developed in Europe. At the SIP opening day we discussed the marketing of his handmade LAMBRETTA pipes. The result of this meeting is that we can now offer 6 variations of the LAMBRETTA version of the SIP Performance pipes from the KRP1 Road use for everyday scootering through to the maximum performance orientated “JL Race” naturally in the usual high JL-quality. All pipes are mounted exactly using hard plastic spacers. This makes the whole system more flexible so avoiding unnecessary damage to the exhaust itself. JL KRP1 “Road use” This system was designed especially for lower states of tune and fits on OE cylinders between 125-200cc as well as TS1 kits with the adapter included with this exhaust. This torque orientated version delivers power over the whole rev range and so enables easier gear changing at lower revs.
JL KRP3 “curly” An unobtrusive design with a pure power delivery. If you are looking for a pipe with restrained looks but unrestrained race power, then look no further. A racing scooter sound and extra performance throughout the revrange. A decent looking design with a power potential waiting to be exploited. Similar to the KRP3 it can be used in high end road tune setups, all the way through to maximum power racers and sprinters. JL KRP “race use” Nomen est omen. We are talking about a pipe devoid of BSAU numbers or the like, a ruthless race pipe design with maximum power output included. To exploit the full potential of this exhaust system the use of a tuning cylinder such as the TS1 or the MONZA etc. is necessary. A carburettor of 30 mm or larger and a racing crankshaft completes the ideal performance setup. A larger main jet and an adjusted ignition timing are absolutely necessary for optimal and reliable use of this exhaust system.

CONTACT BREAKER The contact breaker is in place to interrupt the power created between the ignition coil located on the stator plate, and the flywheel magnets at the right moment in order to send a high tension pulse to the spark plug, so creating an ignition spark. The teamwork between the contact breaker and the stator leads to the electromagnetic field collapsing and so creating the ignition pulse inductively through the secondary generator coils. The contact is broken mechanically with the force created by the magnets located in the flywheel, which leads to inevitable erosion and wear.

CONDENSER Condensers or capacitors are a part of your electrical system that do not deserve to be neglected. The condenser operates in parallel to the points breaker circuit so minimizing erosion of the contact point, actuated by rotation of the permanent magnets located in the flywheel and electrical arcing between the separated contact surfaces. A deterioration of the point surface occurs according to total mileage covered during the lifetime of this part. The result of this erosion is a weaker, reddish ignition spark, before it fails completely.

TUNING SPECIAL GORI ELABORAZIONI The foundations for the legend surrounding GORI tuning components was laid in a small workshop in Florence, belonging to Vasco, the father of Giancarlo Gori in 1958. Here they first experimented tuning the early Lambretta models until they could present any products to the general public. A combination of the great demand for his tuning products and the competition provided by the famous Ancilotti family of tuners, also based in Florence, led to Gori constantly developing his products further to be able to offer innovative components for the tuning of Lambretta scooters. Even to this day the parts produced in Italy by GORI are sought after by Lambretta enthusiasts across the globe and their seats, exhaust systems and tuning cylinders have long since attained cult status.
RACING CYLINDER GORI „SPORT“ 200 for Lambretta 125 LI/Special/GP/DL/150 LI/Special/SX/GP/DL/175 TV The GORI 200cc ‚Sport‘ tuning cylinder kit is designed for use with the Lambretta 125-175cc smallblock motors, in combination with crankshafts that possess a 107mm con rod and 58mm stroke. Features including its solid overall design, a high end bore finishing, completely redesigned transfer port architecture and inlet and outlet ports ensure a noticeable but measured increase in power output, when compared to standard motor set ups. Although the use of this cylinder kit in combination with a standard sized carburettor is possible, Giancarlo Gori himself recommends the inclusion of a large diameter carburettor to exploit its true potential. Alongside the cast iron cylinder the kit includes a re-profiled aluminium cylinder head, a specially produced ‚Meteor‘ piston with three piston rings, a freshly conceived inlet manifold, a stiffer set of clutch springs and all the necessary gaskets. CLUTCH FRICTION PLATES A clutch is not just one part of the engine, it is likely to be the most important part as it transmits the power between crankshaft and gearing. In order to be able to transmit more power, you need more friction within the clutch. Stronger springs will provide more contact pressure , more clutch plates will result in an enlarged frictional surface. Do not forget gearbox oil for an overnight soak before assembly!

A high mileage alone can cause cracks in the material, deformation due to centrifugal force and the clutch cluster circlip groove becoming worn and imprecise. It is responsible for the transfer of power through the drive train between the gear cogs and shaft within the output shaft assembly. The more performance a motor can deliver, the more gear changing is necessary in order to exploit fully the available performance. All gear selectors require replacement, irrelevant of state of tune after 10-12000 kms (6-7500 mls.). For these reasons and more it is recommendable to replace the gear selector during every service of your engine. If you are looking to save a few pennies there are slightly less expensive after market items available produced by FA ITALIA. The specially hardened item produced by DRT is most definitely recommendable for use in the more highly tuned motor projects.

This increased flow ensures an adequate supply of fuel when the engine is running at high revs, whether on the race track or motorway. This fuel tap is available with both a manual ‚reserve‘ position and an electronic ‚reserve‘ indicator. The electronic method requires an additional external ‚reserve‘ indicator light, such as the type included with the SIP product. The electric wiring loom adapter included with the SIP speedometers are fully compatible with the OMG items. This fuel tap does not include a fuel tap lever switch.

SCHOCK ABSORBERS The BITUBO YDB suspension consists of two gas pressure shock absorbers and fits most of the Lambretta models/steering columns. The spring preload is easily continuously adjustable via a knurled screw. BITUBO does not supply a Plug&Play solution here, however. The lower forkshock absorber attachment has to be distanced on the original fork with bushing. For the great result you get, the cost is low. The CARBONE/FA shock absorbers are made in Italy and convince thanks to their exceptionally high quality. The standard CARBONE/FA are a little stiffer than the original suspension – a top original spare part with a decent appearance at very good value for money.

RIMS In principle, the rim should be checked each time the tyres are changed. Rust in the rim well is often the reason for leaky inner tubes. Our cheaper replacement rims make overhauling unattractive in most cases. The size specification for the rims is always given by us in inches, abbreviated on the product description with inverted commas (for example 8” = 8 inch). The width of the rim is just as important as the size specification. This is also given in inches (for example 2.10)!

BRAKE SHOES Please note: Brake pads only have their full braking effect if they have been worn into the brake drum. Bear this in mind over the initial kilometers and brake more frequently and deliberately.
The „AntiAQUA“ shoes from NEWFREN are highly recommended. These were originally developed for the area of off-road use. To be able to guarantee the best possible performance of the brake shoes, grooves have been constructed into the surface of the shoes, which remove moisture and dirt from the drum and also result in the superior cooling of the pad.

Standard Lambretta mirror holder with either a M10 thread or 10mm opening to be compatible with all commonly available mirror types. To attach the mirror holding brackets first unscrew the bolts holding the top of the headset in place and remove it. The brackets can then be fixed in place using one the bolts included in the kit. The longer bolt is meant for all series I and II models, the shorter for series III and also the SX/DL/GP Lambretta models.

contact & directions HOW TO FIND US: We are very conveniently located in the industrial estate “Frauenwald” in Landsberg am Lech. For those arriving on the A96 motorway, we recommend to take the exit Landsberg Nord and drive into town. At the first intersection (opposite ALDI) turn right until the next traffic light, turn right and go straight. Shortly after the highway bridge at Audi / Mercedes, turn left and continue straight through the roundabout. Approximately 300m further we are on the right side, opposite the sports complex of TSV Landsberg. When traveling on the motorway-like B17 exit Igling is recommended. Follow the signs “Industriegebiet Frauenwald”. About the Franz-Kollmann-Straße, which merges into the Fahrenheit Street and then in the Celsiusstraße turn right at the company Viessmann into Emmy-Noether-Straße. After about 200 meters you will find us on the left side.
