MMSU studes battle in sizzling cook-off clash
Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) students went head-to-head as they competed in the Masterchef-inspired cooking competition held at the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) grounds yesterday, January 17.
Composed of four members each, the said contest was joined by 10 competing teams from the eight colleges and Laboratory High School Laoag and Batac.

Tasked to prepare an Ilokano-inspired food recipes using Ilokano ingredients, the participants were given a total of two hours and 30 minutes to prepare a first-placeworthy dish.
The contestants' outputs will be judged based on the following: Originality and Creativity, Visual Appeal, Taste and Aroma, Technique Used, Hygiene and Sanitation, and Service Presentation.

CHS, COM spearhead bloodletting activity

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) College of Health Sciences (CHS) and College of Medicine (COM) organized a bloodletting activity in partnership with Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) through their National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) program at the university’s Student Center, January 23.
With over 100 donors, a total of 100 bags of blood (450 ml each) were collected, which will be used to help patients in need of blood trans- fusions, including those undergoing surgery, cancer treatments, and other medical procedures.
According to the CHS Student Council President Christian Jade Namnama, the blood donation drive is timely as the stocks in the blood bank is critical.
“We are all aware naman na how crucial blood donation drive is and as mentioned kanina, it can help a lot of people especially dagidiay masakit and masapol na masalinan dara. Aquino, MMSU Director for Planning, Angel Lao from Laoag City Tourism, and Norman Dela Cruz, the head Chef of the University Cafeteria. really it can help a lot,” he further added.
The MMSU Masterchef Edition is part of the University's celebration of its 45th foundation anniversary. It aims to showcase the talents of the students and to exhibit the richness of the Ilokano culture in terms of food.
"We are all aware how crucial blood donation drive is, and as mentioned earlier, it can help a lot of people especially those who need blood transfusion. And just like what they said, it does not only benefit the recipient of the blood but also the donor itself"
The organizers ensured that the activity ran smoothly with several stations set up for registration, screening, and donation were carried out carefully and professionally by the medical students and the attending physicians.
The blood donation drive is part of the university’s 45th foundation anniversary student-led activities.
