A SISTAH’s Lifestyle Life Coaching Principles

Can you recall those days that seem like everything has gone wrong? We all have them. You may be having one of those days today. I recall a day in particular when I felt like the enemy pulled my name from a hat and declared he would release all of his forces against me. I remember thinking, “Let me get home before anything else goes wrong.”

As I was thinking this, I was sitting at a red stop light near my apartment when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a car speeding my way. Of course, I was thinking they were going to slow down. Imagine my surprise when the car slammed right into me and almost caused me to hit the truck in front of me. However, I was thankful that the light had turned green by this point.

At this time in my life, I had a Saturn L300. The car that hit me had a lot of damage, but my car rarely had any. When my Mother arrived at the scene, she made a statement that stuck with me. She stated, “You know those Saturns, they are built to last.”

I then began to reflect on my day and was able to receive a very powerful message from God from this very experience. No matter what is occurring in your life, know that you are built to last.

II Corinthians 4:8-11 says, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.”

Our struggles are an opportunity for God to display his great power and presence through us. Even though we

have trouble, God has not designed this life for our troubles to be a worry. He tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (NIV).”

We become confused due to the experiences in this life, but the Holy Spirit can fill us with much hope instead of us living a life of misery. We will be mistreated, but God has promised to never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). No matter what happens that may knock the wind out of you, it does not have permission to overtake you.

We are victorious. We have the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19) because God has built us to last. We are built to withstand the test of ever circumstance because God is with us. If God be for us who or what can be against us? We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:31, 37).

Therefore stand boldly today with complete understanding that you are built to last. If it’s a situation at work; you are built to last. Your family looks like it’s falling apart, but you’re built to last. Your financial obligations outweigh the money you have in your account or in your pocket, but you are built to last. Your health may be declining, but God has not completed his work in you. I encourage you to trust that what God has placed inside of you will help you endure and overcome any obstacle in life. Your situation may soon fade away; but you, my sister in Christ, are built to withstand it all.
