Rules & Regulations
To be eligible to participate in recruitment, a potential new member (PNM) must be enrolled at SIUe for the Fall 2016 semester. A PNM must attend all Open House/Sisterhood Round events and all events thereafter for which she has been invited. A PNM must attend all recruitment events at the times listed on their individual event schedule. A PNM shall not take any items from the recruitment events, such as flowers, nametags, napkins, water bottles, bookmarks, etc. A PNM shall not be, or have been a new member of any NPC sorority at SIUe in the past calendar year. The use of cell phones will be prohibited during all recruitment events. During recruitment, a PNM may not have contact, besides normal/casual contact, with an undergraduate or alumnae sorority or fraternity member outside of Panhellenic Council recruitment events. Normal/casual contact is friendly behavior or the way you would normally address an acquaintance. The Panhellenic Council follows a mandatory acceptance practice, which means that a PNM is required to accept all invitations up to the maximum number of recruitment events in a given round. Mandatory acceptance only applies to the event invitations selection and not to preference card signing. Sorority members shall not make promissory comments or indicate in any way to a potential member that she will be given an invitation to a recruitment event or for membership. Additionally, a PNM shall not make a promise, written or verbal, to return to or join a sorority. No PNM or sorority member shall speak unfavorable of a chapter, chapter member or another PNM. The use of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs shall be strictly prohibited during Fall Primary Recruitment. Use will result in immediate removal from the recruitment process.

Sample Questions to Ask What is the time commitment? Why did you join this chapter? How much does it cost to be in a sorority and where does my money go? What are the benefits of being a memeber of this organization (Academically? Leadership Opportunities? Post Graduation?) What values are important to your organization? How long is the new member period and what will be expected of me during this time? What makes your chapter unique? What have you enjoyed most about being in a sorority? How involved are sororities in community service?
