WATER expo 2011 The Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) is the global platform for water solutions that brings policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners together to address challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water world. The event’s flagship programmes comprise:
• • • • •
Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize Water Leaders Summit Water Convention Water Expo Business Forums
Themed ‘Sustainable Water Solutions for a Changing Urban Environment’, the 2011 event will reinforce Water Week as a platform for solutions to address the latest and most pertinent water issues amidst a rapidly changing world. It also reflects a broader focus beyond urban water solutions and other issues that affect the urban environment, such as climate change and the management of watersheds and river basins. The United Nation projects that by the year 2050, the world’s population will reach about 9 billion, with 70% expected to live in cities. Increasing global population, rapid urbanisation and emerging economies continue to put a strain on resources such as water, food and energy. This calls for urban planning and water management strategies to work in tandem to address the additional stress on the increasingly scarce water resources. Immense market opportunities are abound for solutions that can overcome constraints stemming from resource scarcity to achieve sustainable growth. Through its flagship events, Water Week continues to deliver value to delegates, trade visitors and exhibitors alike with refreshing opportunities to promote practical and sustainable water solutions to the water industry as well as water users in other sectors.
Water Week 2010 Hits New High Amidst the backdrop of a recovering global economy, the Water Expo 2010 has once again delivered bigger and better results. Held together with the World Cities Summit, Singapore International Water Week 2010 saw a record increase in the number of trade attendees to over 14,000 from 112 countries and regions. The total value of announcements for projects awarded, tenders, investments into Singapore and R&D MOUs exceeded S$2.8 billion, up by 27% from last year’s S$2.2 billion. Backed by the pro-business environment of SIWW, the Water Expo continues to deliver strategic value for exhibitors and trade visitors alike. The Water Expo provides a compelling platform that connects the various streams of water-related technology, products, solutions and opportunities for those in the business of water as well as water users across all sectors.
Media Mileage The Water Expo is an outstanding platform for exhibiting companies to create brand and product awareness. More than 1,150 articles and event listings on the Singapore International Water Week 2010 were generated across the local, regional, international, and trade media (print and online) since the campaign commenced in October 2009, representing an advertising value equivalent of S$4.3million.

Through the newly-launched online portal, Connect@SIWW, trade attendees and exhibitors will be able to engage potential business partners prior to attending the event. This portal served well to complement the many networking events at the Water Week 2010. Industry-to-Industry Networking Tea Sessions hosted by local industry associations were well attended and also provided rich networking grounds for connecting the water community and creating cross-industry business opportunities.
