Inside Six Senses Zighy Bay | November 2012 Marhaba Jackie and Julie ~ Dive Instructors & Marine Biologist Sense of Sea with Extra Divers welcomes two very talented Dive Instructors to the waters of Zighy Bay. Jackie Dodd and Julia Herbolsheimer bring with them over 800 logged dives combined throughout Cambodia, Costa Rica, Spain and the Caribbean. PADI certified, Jackie and Julia are also certified reef check specialists and hope to use this experience in conjunction with the resort’s environmental practices.

Both ladies have exceptional experience instructing divers of all abilities, and particularly enjoy providing young adults with their first underwater glimpses through Discovery Diving courses. Combining their poly-lingual skills with Sofie and Klaas Evers, diving lessons and excursions are available in English, French, Dutch and German.

Inside Six Senses Zighy Bay | November 2012 A Very Omani National Day Sunday, 18th of November marks the Sultanate of Oman’s annual National Day; when all Omanis take the day to honour His Excellency Sultan Qaboos and his achievements on behalf of the country. In Zighy Bay we will celebrate our Omani heritage with a collection of dining activities that highlight the rich gastronomy of our gulf nation.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary halwa degustation with Omani coffee during mid-day. Tasting the unique differences and subtleties of fig and date halwa, guests will learn more about this traditional dessert and Omani offering of hospitality.

The evening offers the traditional shua shack communal, bedouin-style dining directly on the beach. Tabouleh, hummus, babaganoush; it all sounds Arabic to you? If so, then this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a classic Bedouin dining experience. This family-style evening begins with a selection of local and organic salads, followed by the main course of lamb prepared in our underground oven; known as the shua. Be sure to leave space for the Arabic sweets and side dishes! Reservations are necessary, and is priced at thirty-five OMR++ per person. Opt for the Lebanese beer and wine package for an extra fourteen OMR++ per person and enjoy flowing service of some of the region’s delectable white, rosé and red wines. Unique for Oman National Day, join our Omani hosts for story-telling about the history of the Sultanate, the Musandam Peninsula, and learning for all ages!

Full Moon Fantasies atop the Wine Tower In addition to the resort’s exceptional full moon activities of moonlight kayak and the ever-exclusive romantic moonlight massage atop the Spa Pavilion, this month Executive Assistant Manager Isaline Goy will lead a unique sensory wine journey atop the wine tower.

Under the power of the full moon we examine the effects of gem stones on wine. After an introduction to how the senses change over time, guests will use aromas to awaken particular parts of their palate. Then, using VitaJuwel gem wands to energize the wine, guests will taste the differences between energized wine and wine without the gem's effects.

The gem wands will have been energized by both the power of the sun as well as the full moon. This activity is offered on Wednesday, 28th November at 19:00 for guests; reservation is necessary and priced at 10++ OMR per person.

Home for the Holidays This year’s Festive Season promises to be even more of a delight to guests of all ages! Mocktail scavenger hunts in the Organic Garden, Santa’s unique arrival into Zighy Bay, exceptional fig degustation by Executive Chef Steven Wilson and one of the region’s most lavish New Year’s Eve Gala are some of the temptations found in this year’s programme. Running from 21st December, 2012 through 7th January, 2013 and Orthodox Christmas there is something for everyone!
