Worked in one continuous piece, this swingy cardigan uses a doublecrochet shell-pattern to create a kaleidoscope of rich earthen tones.

Stitch Glossary
Shell Work (3 dc, ch 1) into st or ch-sp.
CNR (corner) Work (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1) into st or ch-sp.
4 dc decrease Work 1 dc into ch-1 sp, work another dc in same place keeping last loop on hook, work a dc into next ch-1 sp keeping last lps on hook, 3 lps rem, yoh and pull through all 3 lps, work another dc in same place, ch 1.

Row 2 Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1 throughout), CNR in ch-1 sp of corner, [shell in each ch-1 sp to CNR, work corner into the CNR ch-sp] 4 times, 1 dc in ch-6 sp—17 shells and 4 CNR. Turn.

5 (6, 6, 7) 3½oz/100g skeins (each approx 219yd/200m) of Noro Taiyo (cotton/silk/wool/polyamide) in #21 Rust, Hunter, Grey, Black
• SUBSTITUTE YARN
3 (4, 4, 4) 7oz/200g balls (each approx 437yd/400m) of Noro Ito (wool) in #32 Kamisu
• One size J-10 (6mm) crochet hook, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• 8 stitch markers
Ch 4, [shell in ch-1 sp of corner, sk next 9 (10, 11, 12) shells, 1 shell in next corner, shell in each ch-1 sp to next CNR, shell in ch-1 sp of corner, sk next 9 (10, 11, 12) shells, shell in ch-1 sp of corner, dc in 4 sp—15 (16, 17, 18) shells. Turn.
Rnd 1 Work around entire outside edge, beg at lower back edge, (sc in ch-1 sp, ch 3) across back, (sc in ch-4 sp, ch 3, sc in the side of dc at end of row, ch 3) up the front, (sc in ch-3 sp, ch 3) across back neck edge, (sc in ch-4 sp, ch 3, sc in side of dc at end of row, ch 3) down 2nd front, join with sl st in first sc worked. Turn.
Rnd 2 Sl st into first ch-3 sp, ch 1, 2 dc, ch 1 into first ch-3 sp, 1 shell in each ch-3 sp around. Join with sl st to top of first dc at beg of rnd. Turn.

Swirl rnd 1 Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 1, 2 dc, ch 1 in first 3 ch sp, [1 shell in each ch-3 sp to marker, work CNR in marked ch-3 sp] 8 times, 1 shell in each ch-3 sp to end of rnd.
