What is the rural area missing?
Nearby train station : Sherborne/Dorchester
The barn is located in a rural area which is far away from the train stations. However, a small village is nearby. There are only less than 200 people and around 100 houses located in north Dorset about 6 miles south of Sherborne. Most people will not visit the place or even do not know the name of the place. The purpose of the Senses Art Gallery is to both maintain the existing audience and attract people to here and let them know the history and beautiful scenery of it better with a state of art perfomance space, filming space, corridor gallery, and cafe. These spaces aim to get people explore, oberseve and express themselves freely and escape the urben scence.Nature ground us in the present moment.

After taking a short survey to the demographic of students, I recieved some interesting answers. Almost 87% of respondents do not familier with the place and only 10% of them said they barely come to the rural area. Since the conclusion of the survey shows that such amount of people were not interested in visiting this place. I wondered how to entice them to go. I posted the question:" what will entice you to a rural area?" The answer of them are quiet insightful, Such as galleries or some high-end norishment spaces - with a good view of the landscapes which urban cannot offer.

1210 The coat of arms derives from Henry de Glanville who was granted lordship of Wootton Glanville in 1210. The parish was described having ‘nearly 1700 acres of rich land and the population of about 300.’ The family died out around 1790. Many people locally used both names to refer to our village until the name, Glanvilles Wootton, was formalised in 1985.

Interactive / Light performance Function
HOW DOES PERFORMANCE BENEFIT PEOPLE? Gallery has been an influential part of people's live. It is not only for gathering creative ideas, inspiration, exploring the potential abilities, but also for enscaping the cruel realities by enjoing the beauty of the nature. It will create oppotunities for people to interact with installations and entice people to be engaged with the exhibition instead of the normal art galleries with some artworks are displayed in every spaces. Such an interesting light performance in rural will emplify the benefit of the gallery and show. A good gallery is a blend of different people from diverse backgrounds coming together, getting know each other by knowing the different culture. Here will be a site to thrive the diversity, a rural place to unite people in different ages in the perfomance.

The flow of customers in the art gallery is simple but the space is diversified. There is a sunken corridor on the ground floor, in order to ensure that the height of the first and second floors correct. In addition, in order to make better use of the space, the stairs are placed on the corners and outside the building, so customers can see the outdoor scenery while walking. More than that, when people go upstairs, they also become beautiful scenery in the building by adding more color to the building.
