Royal: A Peridot and Diamond Necklace, England, circa 1875 Provenance: The Countess of Harewood Mary, the Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood, was born to the Duke and Duchess of York in 1897. In 1910 her parents were crowned King George V and Queen Mary. In 1922 she married Viscount Lascelles, who became the Earl of Harewood in 1929. Much of Mary’s jewelry came as gifts from her mother, the Queen, who was an avid jewelry collector. 4
