What’s up Spartans! My name is Jalen Allen, my pronouns are he/him. I am pleased to announce that I am running for the Director of Student Resource Affairs (SRA). I am a second-year Marketing major with a Public Administration and Public Policy minor. During my SJSU career thus far, I have been an SJSU Orientation Leader, A.S. committee member, Academic Senate committee member, Inter-fraternity Vice President of Programming, and a brother of Delta Sigma Phi. I currently serve on the campus life affairs committee, working closely with the current Director of Student Resource Affair. The combination of these opportunities has ignited my passion for leadership. The pandemic has taken a toll on SJSU as a whole but most notably the students. As SRA, one of my goals is to create a web series that will provide students with the tools necessary to transition back to the in-person experience. This will be aimed at newer students to help them learn the campus and available resources. Our campus is admirably diverse, but an inclusive community calls for equitable access to resources and accountability. I am planning to host workshops that address all the needs and identities of students. Among these will be a workshop for Black students and other crucial demographics of students. I am committed to amplifying the educational and transformative opportunities at SJSU. Regardless if students are first-generation or a continuing student legacy, I will be vigorously devoted to making sure every student has the opportunity to be successful.
