SERMON NOTES
AT S T. JOHN’S OUT & ABOUT | MAY 27, 1:00PM
LEARNERS’ EXCHANGE
It’s good to be together outside of our regular meeting times. Join us on May 27 for a picnic and activities at Queen Elizabeth Park!
Every Sunday in the Café Room at 9:00 am, Learners’ Exchange offers stimulating speakers and engaging discussions.
Please bring a picnic lunch, and chairs or a blanket. Our after lunch activities will include: a walk in the Quarry Gardens and a round of Frisbee Golf. We’ll meet beside the Rose Garden, close to the parking lot between the pitch & putt and off leash area. Look for a string of Helium balloons to find the exact spot. There’s no need to RSVP, but if you have any questions, please email jeremy@sjvan.org.

WEDDING
JUNE 1-3
Noah Friebel and Juhee Kim will be married on Saturday May 26, 2018. They would like to extend an invitation to members of the congregation to attend their wedding ceremony which will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The ceremony begins at 1:30 pm and will be followed by light refreshments.
Each year UGM runs a weekend retreat for kids connected to UGM in the downtown eastside. They take about 50 kids from grades two to seven to Camp Kawkawa! This year the retreat goes from Friday, June 1 at 3:00 pm until Sunday, June 3 at 4:00 pm. This weekend gives kids the chance to experience camp, get away from the city, and encounter Jesus. UGM is looking for volunteers to be cabin leaders, as well as a volunteer who is trained in lifeguarding. Transportation, meals, and accommodation will be provided to and from UGM. If you are interested in being involved, email volunteers@ugm.ca

HELPING POINT In the summer of 2010 three of St. John’s young adults - Jamie Turner, Olivia Smyth, and Nick Jones - stepped out in faith for a three-month journey to serve the community of Helping Point in South-east India. Their visit was the beginning of our relationship, and now Helping Point is one of St. John’s primary mission partners. This summer St. John’s plans to send a team of four to six people to Helping Point. The primary purpose of the trip is to continue developing our relationship with our brothers and sisters in India. We also hope to grow in our knowledge and understanding of God’s work among all nations. If you would like an application to join the team please send an email to team@sjvan.org. The application deadline is Sunday, June 10. Questions about the trip can be directed to Jamie Turner at jturner@helpingpoint.org. For more information on the work of Helping Point visit helpingpoint.org.
