FLOWERS

PRAY FOR BIBLE CAMP

The flowers on the altar are placed in loving memory of Carolyn Thomas.

Over four days St. John’s will be hosting nearly 100 children for Bible Camp. They will be going through the story of Daniel, drawing out the themes of worship and God as our rightful king.

MISSIONS TRIP TO HELPING POINT - DEADLINE EXTENSION This year St. John’s is intending to send a team of four to six people to visit the work of Helping Point in India. We are still in the process of identifying team members and would like to encourage everyone to consider applying. The timing of this visit is flexible and will be made by the team in consultation with the team. Helping Point is one of St. John’s primary mission partners and the purpose of the trip is to continue developing our relationship with our brothers and sisters in India and to grow in our knowledge and understanding of God’s work among all nations. If you would like an application to join the team please send an email to team@sjvan.org. Questions about the trip can be directed to Jamie Turner at jturner@helpingpoint.org. For more information on their work, visit the Helping Point website at www.helpingpoint.org.

Please pray for: The leadership team as they pull together the final details for camp. Open hearts for the children, that they will hear the gospel proclaimed and respond. The team of volunteers. That this week would be filled with joy and would renew their own love for God.

Conference photo in Jerusalem on the Southern Steps of Temple Mount GAFCON 2018: JERUSALEM GAFCON was a taste of heaven. To joyfully sing God’s praises with 2000 followers of Jesus from 50 different countries, to hear God speak to us from his word together, to support and care for one another in small groups, to eat meals together, and to get to know people who serve Jesus in very different contexts, gave us a glimpse of what it will be like to be gathered together with our heavenly Father in the New Heaven and Earth. David and Bronwyn Short, Jeremy Graham and Dan Gifford came away from GAFCON 2018 deeply encouraged by what God is doing in His Church. GAFCON is a movement within the Anglican communion comprised of 85% of Anglicans throughout the world which is renewing the vision of the Anglican communion so that it is committed to faithfully proclaiming Jesus to all the nations of the world. In an age where there are powerful forces attempting to distort the Gospel of Jesus and pull the Anglican communion from its foundation on the pure word of God, the members of GAFCON are standing firmly on this foundation and very actively bringing Jesus’ true Gospel to people throughout the world. You can see this commitment articulated in the letter that came out of GAFCON 2018 here: https://www. gafcon.org/news/letter-to-the-churches-gafcon-assembly-2018 It is a commitment that strengthens our own work at St. John’s as we serve Jesus in Vancouver. It was a great joy for us to experience this first hand and to take our part in encouraging other delegates who attended this conference. David Short brought great encouragement to all the delegates through the book of Titus as he spoke about to the gathered assembly about God’s Strategy for the World which you can see here: https://www.anglicannetwork. ca/news/2018/6/21/canon-david-short-speaks-at-gafcon Thank you for your prayers for GAFCON and please continue to pray that God continues to bring His Gospel to millions of people around the world through His renewed Anglican church.
