Ordination at St. John’s Today we celebrate with Arnold Mayorga his ordination to the diaconate at our 6:00 pm Evening Service. Over the last several years Arnold has been an Artizo student and then an intern at St. John’s working with men’s ministry and family ministry. Through this time of ministry, there has been an affirmation for Arnold’s desire to serve as an ordained minister in the Anglican church. This has come through input of the St. John’s staff, the wisdom of a lay ordination discernment committee, and a diocesan Discernment of Vocation Event (DOVE). The process has involved much prayer and many conversations. We are very thankful to the many people at St. John’s who have brought wisdom and Godly insight into this process that has brought him to this ordination day. One of the ways God works through St. John’s is that we are a training church where God equips and prepares people for ministry. We have the privilege of training people to be Gospel centred and biblically shaped lay or ordained ministers who serve in Anglican churches throughout North America. Arnold is one of these people who will bless the wider church with his ministry and we are pleased at St. John’s to celebrate this new stage of Arnold’s ministry as a servant of Jesus. Arnold, his wife Michelle, and his children (Amara and Augustine) will be moving to Ottawa in a couple of weeks to take charge of two small ANiC churches in Blackburn Hamlet and Limoges, Ontario. You are all invited to attend Arnold’s ordination this evening and to pray for the Mayorga family as they begin this new ministry together.
