WH AT ’S UP AT S T. JOHN’S DIVORCECARE | STARTING IN SEPTEMBER

MEN STUDYING MATTHEW

CHANGE OF START DATE: DivorceCare will begin on September 27

All men are welcome to register for the fall term of Bible study on Tuesday evenings. The weekly studies run from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. We will be studying the same passages from the Gospel of Matthew as our sermon series. The term begins on Tuesday, September 18 and will be a valuable time of learning, sharing, and growing in Christ together.

We are starting a new DivorceCare group this fall. It will run on Thursday nights between 7:00 and 9:00 pm. The first session will be on September 27 and all sessions will happen at St. John’s Vancouver, 5350 Baillie Street. DivorceCare helps people recover from the pain of separation and divorce and is a support group that meets weekly for 13 weeks. If this would be helpful for you, please consider joining us. If this would be helpful for someone you know, please let them know they are welcome. If you have questions or would like to register please contact Margaret Wilson margaret@sjvan.org or call 778-838-7400.

EVENSONG

FLOWERS

Evensong will recommence on Tuesday, September 11 at 5:30 pm. Because of the pending kitchen renovation we will meet in the main floor chapel for the Fall season. The meal we will share together at the end of the service will be somewhat altered. All are welcome.

Today’s flowers are given in thanksgiving to God for David Short and Dan Gifford. We are grateful for their faithful service as they have shepherded God’s flock at St. John’s through example and in teaching God’s true word.

PARISH RETREAT | SEPTEMBER 21-23 Our retreat speaker this year is Chris Ley. He will be speaking from 2 Peter on the topic of “Following Jesus in a World that doesn’t.” We are looking forward to a great weekend learning from scripture and deepening friendships with one another. If you haven’t yet registered and plan to come it is helpful for our planning if you can register sooner rather than later. Registration can be done through the website.

LITTLE YEARS: CHAT + PLAY On Monday, September 17, our new group – Little Years – will start up. Little Years is a weekly program for children between birth and five years and their caregivers led by our Early Childhood Coordinator Heather LaRoy.

SENIOR’S MINISTRY Join us for tea and coffee in the church chapel on Tuesday, September 18 at 1:30 pm. Dr. Packer will be speaking on “Making the Lord Known.” Please RSVP to Margaret Wilson at margaret@sjvan.org or call 778 838-7400.

Join us from 10:45 am to 12:15 pm at the Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre, 990 West 59th Ave, Vancouver. For more information, check out the events page on our website. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Heather, heather@sjvan.org.
