WH AT ’S UP AT S T. JOHN’S SATURDAYS @ 6 | SEPTEMBER 29 As our culture becomes more individualistic, it becomes increasingly important to prioritize intentional and deep relationships as the body of Christ. In the Evening Service, we want to be a community of contrast where hospitality is part of our DNA. For this reason we have Saturdays @ 6. These will be events where each host will decide what they want to do! It might be dinner, a games night, cooking lessons, or a hike. We hope that opening the options will allow for connection over a variety of interests and geographies! For our next event we need hosts. It doesn’t need to be a big thing to host – just choose something you would like to do with others. You can sign up on the website. Registration for attendees will be open soon.

From the Helping Point Team Our excitement is building for the 2018 Helping Point India Missions Team. We have spent the past weeks booking flights, navigating VISA applications, making plans to meet with mentors Caroline and Paul Ratsoy, skyping with Bidyuta Singh, and most importantly praying together and gelling as a team. During our stay we’ll be teaching the Helping Point community english, dental and oral care, and computer basics. We are also eager to learn some Telugu and are preparing songs to teach the children. The planning is well underway. Throughout our planning, we want to be open-handed and flexible about how God wants to use this trip. This week we spent time chatting with Bidyuta, Director of Helping Point, and were reminded of the persecution of Christians in India, and what a critical time this is for the continued advance of God’s Kingdom there. We were able to spend time in prayer for Bidyuta’s upcoming financial audit and meeting concerning the religion of children in the community. As a team, we desire for the trip to involve the community of St. John’s. Please continue to pray for Helping Point and the team. Specifically, pray for favour with VISA applications this week, and for continued leading and inspiration of the Spirit as we plan. If you would like to support the team financially to help us reach our $5,000 target you can donate through the St. John’s website or by cheque with “India Trip 2018” written on the memo line.
