What’s up at St. John’s WHY HAS GOD PLACED ME IN THIS PARTICULAR NEIGHBOURHOOD? “The people living in my neighbourhood might think they live here because it’s close to work or school, or it’s affordable, but I know they’re here to meet me and hear about the Gospel”. When Life Explored trainer Kevin Allen shared this comment from his friend, the evangelist Rico Tice, I burst out laughing. But then I thought, imagine if we all adopted that attitude, imagine how that might change Vancouver. Rico Tice leads Christianity Explored ministries, the same group that has developed the Life Explored program we will be running this Fall. If you are interested in finding out how this program could help you share the gospel, we invite you to a Life Explored information session on Saturday, September 7. Time and location details are still to be confirmed, but it will include a catered lunch. JOB OPPORTUNITY // EVENING SERVICE KIDS COORDINATOR Are you passionate about sharing the Gospel of Christ? Do you love children and families and have a demonstrated ability to teach children and nurture their spiritual growth? If so, you might be interested in working on staff at St. John’s Vancouver as the Evening Service Kids Coordinator. This is a one-year contract position working six hours per week primarily at St. John’s Evening Service. PRAYER POINTS 1. Please pray for our Sunday school volunteers: that our returning teachers will find rest during this month off of teaching and that God will provide the needed teachers for the fall. 2. Pray that God will provide two additional leaders for the Tuesday night men’s studies and that He draws men who are not currently in a small group Bible study to this fellowship in the fall. 3. Think of one person in your life, and pray that God would grant you opportunities to share the Gospel with them. The Days of Elijah Over the next five weeks we will be looking at stories from the life of Elijah. Elijah lived after King David and King Solomon and we learn about him in 1 and 2 Kings. Each week we’ll hear stories from his life and learn about who God is.
