AT ST. JOHN’S

February 9, 2020

LANTERN FESTIVAL CANCELLED!

As you all know the Coronavirus has created deep concern and anxiety throughout the world, as well as here in the Vancouver area. Having prayed about the Lantern Festival in this context, and spoken to several of the people organizing the event, it seemed wise to cancel this event. We want this cancellation to be an expression of St. John’s concern for our friends from China. By God’s grace this is an opportunity for us as a church family to pray for those in China who are suffering and frightened because of this disease, as well as for their family and friends here in Canada.

Join Rev. Jeremy Graham and Min-Soo Kang in a candid, Scripture-centred discussion on pornography and sexual temptation in our digital age. Please feel free to pass along an invitation to attend! If you have any questions contact Jeremy, jeremy@sjvan.org.

ARE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OUTDATED, REGRESSIVE, & IRRELEVANT?

MORNING CATECHISM SUNDAY, FEB 9 // 11:00 AM

EVENING CATECHISM SESSIONS SUNDAY, FEB 9 - MAY 31 // 7:15 PM

What is the communion of Saints? The vital connection between God, His people, and each other. This includes the Church militant and triumphant, and all those who are in Christ throughout all time and place.

What is Catechism? It’s far more than memorizing questions and answers! It’s not just for new Christians. Catechism is a means for life-long growth in the knowledge and love of God and a guide for considering how this impacts your everyday life.

Please come along as we dig into this reality and consider the consequences of the truth that “we are all in this together.”

You can expect lively discussion, systematic teaching, and honest prayer around central aspects of the Christian faith and life.

Please email ben@sjvan.org for more information.

this week’s topic:

starting this week

Are the 10 commandments outdated, regressive, and irrelevant?

This week we’ll dive back into the commandments with a recap for newcomers and an argument for their meaning and helpfulness in the christian life. Please join us for discussion and a light meal!
