Welcome to the 53rd Anacortes Arts Festival
t
hank you for joining us for the 53rd Annual Anacortes Arts Festival. We hope you enjoy your adventure through beautiful downtown Anacortes. As the new director, i am delighted to introduce you to both the things you look forward to every year and the new areas to watch for during your visit. Within the more than 300 booths you see this weekend, you will find all of your past favorites, as well as some interesting new vendors. A new group of booth artisans can be found in ink alley – our indie craft area – located on sixth street. these booths represent some of our best local crafters with fun, cool and trendy products. As always, the Youth Area is a source of ongoing entertainment for your children. some of the activities this year include a collaborative street mandala project, a community quilt creation and an opportunity for kids to make their own bottle cap critters to take home. on your way to the Fine Art show at the Port, spend some time in our Working studios watching a graffiti artist paint a storage container, being entertained by living statue performers or learning about steampunk.

the Fine Art show will surely make an impression on you with some really exceptional pieces in the Allen Family Focus Gallery, a stunning collection of work in the Juried Art show and a gathering of crowd-pleasers in the children’s Art show. After a tour through the Fine Art show, be sure to take a break at the new Waterfront Pub along the Guemes channel. the Festival is a proud supporter of the arts in our community, and this year we were able to grant more than $55,000 to various art programs. We are a nonprofit organization and the money raised through this weekend’s events funds our giving program. You will find donation boxes at the information Booth, Hideout Bar, Fine Art show and other places throughout the Festival. i invite you to consider putting in just $1 or more per person to support this free festival. As you plan your day or days at the Festival, please remember to leave your four-legged friends at home, bring a bag or two with you to take home your treasures and drink plenty of water during the certain-to-be-sunny days! thank you for being here with us for the 2014 Anacortes Arts Festival.
