Frequency Response Function module for SKF Microlog Analyzer GX / MX

The Frequency Response Function (FRF) module is designed for use with the GX and MX series of products within the Microlog family.

Key features • Automatic setting of input range for hammer and transducer • Automatic setting of FFT window (rectangular or force & response) • Automatic reject of overloaded data • Automatic reject of double impact • Display of coherence as color, i.e. the FRF is red where coherence is below 80% • Display of Q factor at cursor position The Frequency Response Function module for the Microlog GX / MX has two primary functions: 1. To establish the properties of mechanical structures (mass, stiffness and damping) by performing modal analysis using a calibrated hammer for the excitation. The unit can be used to display the FRF and measurements can be exported to external software to calculate and animate the mode shapes. 2. To measure and display the transfer function (ratio) between two transducers while a machine is running. Measurements can be exported to external software to calculate and animate the Operating Deflection Shapes (ODS).

Graphical representation of the modal parameters enables the characterization of a structure. A key benefit of the module is that it speeds up a modal test by using algorithms to automatically make test settings. Simplified menus also help to quickly and easily set up for a structural test. The user friendly interface enables the display of: • Magnitude and phase versus frequency • Accelerance or apparent mass • Mechanical impedance or mobility • Stiffness or compliance • Coherence

Structural testing of:

Signal input types: Modal analysis – Channel 1 = modally tuned hammer. Channel 2 = accelerometers, velocity transducers or displacement probes. ODS analysis – Channel 1 & 2 = accelerometers, velocity transducers and displacement probes. Both channels must use the same type of sensor and both must have the same nominal sensitivity.
