The colltex mission

D Die Geschichte unseres Unternehmens ist eng mit der Geschichte der Glarner Familie Fischli verbunden. 1948 von Hans Fischli gegründet, wird es unter dem Namen «Tödi-Sport» schnell bekannt als ein innovatives Unternehmen, das Sportausrüstungen für die Bergwelt herstellt. In den 60er Jahren dann die Konzentration auf Skifelle. 1968 erfolgt der grosse Durchbruch: Das erste selbsthaftende Skifell ist erfunden und erobert schnell die Herzen der Skitourenfahrer. Der Erfolg bleibt nicht auf die Schweiz beschränkt und bald wird es zu eng: 1980 wird in Glarus ein Neubau erstellt. Im gleichen Jahr verlässt das millionste Paar colltex-Skifelle das Werk!

E Our company history is strongly linked to the history of the Fischli family of Glarus. Established in 1948 by Hans Fischli, the company soon became known under the name of Tödi-Sport as an innovative company manufacturing sports equipment for the mountains. In the 1960s, it focussed on climbing skins. 1968 proved to be the year of the big breakthrough: the first self-adhesive climbing skin was invented and quickly conquered the hearts of backcountry skiers. Its success was not limited to Switzerland and the works soon became too small. In 1980, a new building was constructed in Glarus and, in the same year, the millionth pair of colltex skins left the works.

In 1982, the reins passed to his son, Werner Fischli, which proved to be a boost to innovation. The range now also included accessories and spare parts; the sensational colltex camlock tail hook came on the market and the ct40 silicone adhesive – that perfectly adheres at temperatures ranging between –50 and +50°C – ushered in a new era, in the course of which a database of more than 8,000 ski models was enabling us to produce skins perfectly customized to particular skis.

2013 dann eine Neuausrichtung des Unternehmen mit der Umbenennung in «colltex ag», der Konzentration auf den Produktionsstandort Glarus, der Intensivierung des Exportes und der Entwicklung eines modernen Corporate Designs.

In 2013, the company was restructured, its name changed to «colltex ag», concentrating on Glarus as the production site. Exports were intensified and a modern corporate design was developed.

La concentration sur les peaux de phoque date des années 60. 1968 est l‘année charnière, celle de l‘invention de la première peau adhésive. Les randonneurs sont conquis et le succès passe les frontières: il faut construire un nouveau bâtiment en 1980 à Glaris. La même année, la millionième paire de peaux colltex quitte l‘atelier glaronnais. Quand en 1982, le fils Werner Fischli reprend les rênes de la société, un coup de pouce est donné à l‘innovation. Accessoires et pièces détachées complètent l‘assortiment, la fixation colltex camlock fait sensation sur le marché, la colle siliconée ct40, performante de –50° à +50°, annonce une nouvelle ère et Tödi Sport numérise les dimensions de quelque 8000 modèles de skis dans sa banque informatisée. Nouveau virage en 2013, lorsque l‘entreprise adopte le nom de colltex ag, se recentre sur son site de production glaronais, met le turbo sur l‘export et mise sur une charte graphique modernisée, avec un nouveau logo très remarqué.

Unsere 3 wichtigsten Partner sind: WSL– Institut für Schnee- und Lawinenforschung SLF, Davos. Dieses Institut testet und beurteilt für uns die Gleit-, Steig- und Abriebseigenschaften bei unterschiedlichen Schnee- und Temperaturbedingungen. EMPA – Materials Science & Technology Dübendorf. Eine Forschungsinstitution der ETH, Schweiz. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Grundlagenforschung für Fasern und textile Flächenkonstruktionen. Ausserordentlich wichtig für die Entwicklung unserer Skifell-Flore und wasserdichten Gewebe. iTV – Institut für Textil- und Verfahrenstechnik in Denkendorf, Deutschland. Das iTV-Institut untersucht für colltex die Wechselwirkungen von Fasereigenschaften, das triboelektrische Verhalten und den Einfluss von Farben im Gleitbereich.

Their assessments, knowledge, and experience regularly flow into the development of new colltex products. Our three most important partners are: WSL– Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF, Davos The institute tests and evaluates for us the gliding, climbing, and abrasion properties of the skins in different snow conditions and temperatures. EMPA – Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science & Technology, Dübendorf A research institute of the ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Emphasis is on basic research for fibres and textile surface structures; an extremely important aspect for the development of our climbing-skin piles and waterproof fabrics. iTV – Institute of Textile Technology and Process Engineering Denkendorf, Germany The iTV Institute investigates for colltex the interactions of fibre properties, the triboelectric behaviour and the influence of colours in the gliding range.

No matter its ultra-modern technology, part of the production process is still individually hand-made. Producing a high-quality product such as the colltex skin also requires something else though: the passion of colltex employees for their product – for almost 70 years now.

To date, re-coating still required quite some effort, but now colltex has made is so much easier with its sensational whizzz system: clean the adhesive side, cut the colltex whizzz tape to the correct length, and fix provisionally. Put the skin with the adhesive side down as straight as possible on the whizzz tape and press down firmly. Cut the whizz film along the skin edges. That’s it!

Renew your colltex skin

D «Gut gewachst ist halb gewonnen» – das gilt auch für deine Skitour! Richtig gemacht, sorgt ein perfekt gewachstes Skifell für die bestmöglichen Gleiteigenschaften und verhindert gleichzeitig das Aneisen und Anstollen der Felle. 1 colltex skin + ski wax macht das Wachsen super-einfach: Mit dem Roll-on in Haarrichtung gründlich über den Fellplüsch streichen. Fertig! Aber Achtung: Nicht rubbeln, da sonst das feine Haar verfilzen kann. Auch geeignet für unterwegs und die Skilauffläche. 2 colltex skinproof, die Flüssigimprägnierung mit dem praktischen Schwämmchen zum Auftragen, ist die Alternative zum Wachs. Auf die Mitte des Schwämmchens drücken und vollflächig – immer in Haarrichtung – in den Fellplüsch einarbeiten. Nicht rubbeln. Das Skifell gut trocknen lassen. Vorsicht: skinproof darf nicht auf die Kleberseite geraten, da sonst die Haftkraft leidet.

3 Heisswachsen wird von Rennläufern und Wettkämpfern bevorzugt. Die Felle auf dem Ski fixieren und den Wachs an einem Bügeleisen kurz erwärmen. Wachs sofort in Haarrichtung auftragen und mit dem Waxeisen in der gleichen Richtung über das Fell fahren. Abschliessend das Bügel- oder Waxeisen vom Fellanfang bis zum Fellende ziehen. E «Well waxed is half the battle.» The same goes for your ski tour. Done correctly, a perfectly waxed ski skin ensures the best possible gliding characteristics and simultaneously prevents any icing or snow build-up on the skins. 1 colltex skin + ski wax turns waxing into something super easy: guide roll-on thoroughly in the direction of the hair over the skin pile. That’s it! But beware: do not rub as this might felt the fine pile. Also suitable on tour and for the ski surface. 2 colltex skinproof, the liquid impregnation with the practical application sponge as an alternative to wax. Press on the centre of the sponge and work into the skin over the entire pile surface – always in the direction of the hair. Do not rub. Let the ski skin dry thoroughly. Caution: make sure «skinproof» does not touch the adhesive sides as this would be detrimental to adhesion. 3 hot waxing is the preferred solution for racers and competition skiers. Fix the skins on the skis and briefly warm the wax on an iron. Immediately apply the wax in the direction of the hair and iron the skin in the same direction with the waxing iron. Finally, pull the waxing iron over the entire area, from the tip of the skin to its tail. F La victoire est dans le fartage – à ski de randonnée aussi! Une peau parfaitement fartée garantit une bonne glisse, sans geler ni botter. 1 colltex skin + ski wax passez le roll-on dans le sens du poil, soigneusement, c‘est tout! Ne frottez pas pour éviter d‘effilocher la peluche. Idéal pour emporter. Convient aussi aux semelles de ski. 2 colltex skinproof, avec sa petite éponge, ce liquide d‘imprégnation est une alternative pratique au fart. Appuyez au centre de l‘éponge et faire pénétrer sur toute la surface de la peluche, toujours dans le sens du poil, sans frotter. Bien laisser sécher. Attention à ne pas mettre de skinproof sur la surface encollée pour éviter les pertes d‘adhésion. 3 Fartage à chaud – c‘est ce que préconisent les compétiteurs. Fixez la peau au ski et chauffez le fart au fer pour le poser tout de suite dans le sens du poil. Passez ensuite le fer à farter dans le même sens. En fin de fartage, passez une fois le fer d‘un bout à l‘autre de la peau. Les bons farts à utiliser chauds sont chez ToKo, Swix, Holmenkol entre autres. Generell Setze dein Skifell niemals der Wärme aus Schütze es vor Licht- und Sonneneinwirkung | Trockne es ohne Abdecknetz und ohne Fellsack bei Zimmertemperatur | Trockene Felle mit Abdecknetz oder pro-skin (ausser bei whizzz) im Fellsack aufbewahren | Nasse Skifelle niemals im Fellsack lagern.

General Never expose your ski skin to heat. | Protect it against light and sunlight. | Dry it without the protective netting and without skin tote bag at room temperature. | Keep dry skins with protective netting or colltex pro-skin (except for whizzz) in the skin tote bag. | Caution: never store wet skins in the skin tote bag!

On Tour Before the assembly, make sure that the ski base is clean and free of snow crystals. If there is snow buildup, colltex skin + ski wax or colltex skinproof will help. If adhesion declines, use colltex quickspray or adhesive pads at the skin ends.

Produkte Achtung: Verwende bitte zu deiner Sicherheit nur original colltex-Zubehör und Ersatzteile. colltexProdukte sind aufeinander abgestimmt und garantieren eine problemlose Anwendung. Safety first! Wachs Fabrikneue oder gewachste Skis unbedingt mit Wachsentferner gründlich reinigen und mit einem Parafinwachs oder colltex skin+ski wax neu einwachsen. En voici quelques extraits: D‘une manière générale Ne jamais exposer les peaux à la chaleur. | Protéger les peaux de la lumière et de l’ensoleillement. | Laisser sécher les peaux à température ambiante et dans l’obscurité (sans filet protecteur et à l’extérieur du sac). | Conserver les peaux sèches dans les filets de rangement ou pro-skin (sauf whizzz), glissées dans le sac à peaux. | Attention: ne jamais stocker des peaux mouillées dans le sac à peaux! En rando Avant de peauter, vérifiez que la semelle du ski est propre et exempte de neige. | En cas de formation de sabots, utilisez colltex skin + ski wax ou colltex skinproof.| En cas de perte progressive d’adhérence des peaux aux extrémités, utilisez colltex quickspray ou les autocollants double face. Gamme Attention: n’utilisez que les produits de la gamme colltex. Leur compatibilité entre eux est totale ce qui garantit un entretien facile et une sécurité maximale.
