DPS is about the mystery encountered during a slide across deep snow. It is the inspiration for everything we create. It fuels a reverence for mountains, storms, and the people who sculpt powder culture. It leads us on a search for distant ranges and on a quest for the most progressively shaped and built skis on the planet.

Stephan Drake, pow surfing Spoons.

The Perpetual Dream Welcome to the 2018-19 Season

Window seat; car, train, or plane. Look out onto the horizon and there is new movement. A trip has begun. The sky becomes vast, kaleidoscope images of the landscape flow through your eyes, and the mind releases into an ever-deepening space. You are going places. There’s always a road that gets you to mountains. It winds upward as trees change and the landscape becomes increasingly white. Hopefully, you find yourself at the end of a beautiful valley where snowbanks vertically frame the streets. There’s nowhere else to be until Spring. The small room where you live is cozy. Wood smoke is perfume. Outside, the days are full of clean and crisp alpine air. Pushing your craft, and surfing through the deepness, is the way. The sun comes out occasionally, and that’s okay. Snow piles deeper and dryer, and nights pass easily without much concern for the next day. There are friends and laughter. All your gear works perfectly. You regard your boots with pure love because they allow perfect comfort and the optimized biomechanical transfer of energy. You have nextgeneration powder sticks that are totally intuitive. Every run, every turn expands the soul via the seamless transfer of power and feeling. Equipment reflects the art, and it’s all so good that your movements become universally dynamic and economical. Your body doesn’t hurt –– it’s perfectly in sync. We haven’t reached that place yet. But it’s the DPS mission to deliver you there. Our factory is located off a diesel-trafficked industrial road, near a body shop, beside train tracks. A sole east-facing window frames the Wasatch, as the mountains rise dramatically from the valley floor. Inside, we toil daily to constantly improve; to push and push, and push some more toward better snow tools. Our obsession is fueled by the idea of travel to the perfect place, with the concept of complete immersion, and the notion that the perfect ride exists; to be realized, enjoyed, and obsessed over.

The 2018/19 Quiver

Cassiar Designs Share the Spotlight. If there ever was a conception, in certain circles, that DPS makes only big-mountain and powder skis, that belief should be eviscerated with the release of the 2018/19 Quiver. The big news from HQ is the massive push behind the reintroduction of the Cassiar line. Our new offering is the result of a two year deep-dive into the hardsnow/ frontside category. The on-snow results should speak for themselves. If you’ve only ridden Wailer or Lotus family skis, the new Cassiar shapes should really expand your horizons, both in finding technical ways to improve your game, and for regularly harvesting fun in resort terrain. The new Cassiar line comes in both Foundation and Alchemist constructions. All Cassiar skis are derived from a new Chassis platform, dubbed ‘C2’. C2 is essentially a mathematically scaled blueprint for a refined combination of sidecut, flex pattern, and overall ski shaping. Ski design is complex, and when you have something that works well, building scale is critical within a family of waist widths. The new Cassiar line offers 79mm, 82mm, 87mm, and 94mm versions to choose from based on the snow type you are most likely to encounter on a daily basis. And if you were to sample any Cassiar shapes in succession, you would feel a distinctly shared DNA. Each shape shares similarities in flex, turn-initiation, and rebound, rendering it evident that they come from the same mother. Additionally, inside the reborn Cassiar family, don’t miss out on the Cassiar 79, a new shape that is only available in Alchemist construction. At 12.5M, it’s a superb quiver choice for strong technical skiers, but also doubles as an everyday platform for those that are still honing their technical game. It’s intuitive and easy to drive, and what we believe to be the most versatile ski in the sub-80mm width class. Smooth, smileinducing g-forces are a common occurrence. For emerging shredders of the universe, the long-awaited Grom series is born. Juniors and the teenage set can now choose from either a Wailer or Lotus design targeted toward their developing game. Young guns will appreciate the thoroughbred ride and the perfect gateway into the full DPS stable. And finally, the already ultra-awarded Lotus 124 takes one more notable evolutionary step with great refinements to flex pattern and rocker lines, further improving upon an already exceptional deep snow ride, and into 2.0 status. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor in the 18/19 season, with total enjoyment in all terrain and snow conditions, in what we believe is our finest quiver offering yet. Cassiar shredding on the frontside.

The Cassiar Quiver

Elements of a

C2 Chassis

Cassiar skis are designed to take you all over the resort, in all conditions. We have found that too many frontside-focused skis are too race/piste-driven and suffer in crud, steeps, moguls or trees. And similarly, there are too many freeride derived 8095mm underfoot shapes that simply aren’t fun, balanced, or powerful enough to truly carve and generate lateral g-forces on piste.

Turn Radii

Our Cassiar all-mountain skis don’t come from the world of racing, and we think that’s a good thing. Rather, they were born by applying the highest performance off-piste designs to DPS’ composite material technology specifically for narrower waist-widths.

The new Cassiar line exhibits multiple turn radii across different waist widths and lengths. For example, the A79 Trainer comes in at 12.5M, while the softer snow and off-piste oriented Cassiar 94 reaches up to 20M; meaning less aggressive engagement, more speed management, and increased stability in mixed snow.

12.5m - 20m Sidecut Design

The new C2 Chassis presents a beautiful sweet spot, and delivers a truly balanced and amazing all-mountain experience for the conditions commonly encountered on most resort days.

Chassis 2 sidecuts feature a blend of strategically placed radii that make the ski aggressive at the top of the turn, but also incredibly friendly when the ski is off-edge and drifting in mixed snow. That, coupled with varying radii in the tail section, make a C2 ski more friendly off-edge than anything we’ve built to-date in the sub-20m sidecut category. Further, these skis feature relatively high taper angles, which means the ski pulls you deeply into the turn with an immediate, responsive feel. With the introduction of C2, the days when carbon skis were subject to torsion chatter––the feeling of the ski skipping and vibrating in an attempt to match the ski’s designed turn radius––are a thing of the past.

Mounting Points Cassiar designs are centered around a prescribed mounting point in relationship to the overall ski length. It’s more forward than older generation footprints. The mounting point functions to keep your center of mass moving constantly forward in mixed snow and terrain more so than in traditional carving and racing skis. You stand in an incredibly balanced position that also sits in concert with the flex pattern and sidecut. The result is a more neutral and poised stance that reinforces and stokes smoothness, allowing athletic skiing to shine.

Flex Patterns It took over 25 flex pattern iterations to get to the special goodness that is found in a C2 chassis ski. The tip is just aggressive enough, but nimble to handle crud and moguls. The middle is firm, and the tail is weighted to thread a precise needle between an ultraeasy exit and energetic propulsion into the next turn.

CHOOSE YOUR SHAPE

CHOOSE YOUR CONSTRUCTION Dedicated skiers have a full-build menu to choose from. Once you select your shape, you can match it with a series of cutting-edge constructions; each with their own distinctive and fine-tuned attributes. DPS reaches into every corner of a skier’s imagination when it comes to ski layup and design, spanning the spectrum from elite high-tech Pure aerospace prepreg carbon (Alchemist), damp and powerful bamboo-carbon (Foundation), or super-lightweight ascentdescent focused touring skis (Tour1).

We have always categorized ski shapes into three general families. All of the skis within a particular family, regardless of how they are shaped or designed, correlate to an intended use within a general set of terrain and snow conditions. Each family can also be recognized by a range of waist widths, e.g. the frontside, firmer snow Cassiar family contains skis between 79mm-94mm underfoot. Within each family, there are often different styles of shapes, flex patterns, and sidecut designs.

LOTUS FAMILY

WAILER FAMILY Waist Width: 99mm - 115mm

Waist Width: >115mm

Next-level, vibration-tuned aerospace grade carbon ski construction melded with absolutely the finest supporting materials.

DPS’ roots are ingrained in the pursuit of deep powder. Since inception, we have led the way in the big-mountain genre with a number of firsts, including introducing the first 120mm powder pintail (Lotus 120), transferring the word “rocker” from surfing to skiing, introducing the first rockered ski with sidecut (Lotus 138), and the groundbreaking Spoon.

The Wailers are the middle of your quiver: all mountain, all season—maximum versatility. The four models within, and their women’s counterparts, are among the most awarded skis in snow and outdoor media over the last five years. From the faithful daily driver in the Wailer 99; the do-it-all Wailer 106, or to the Wailer 112—the Wailer family has you covered for the majority of your days.

Class-leading downhill performance in the lightweight touring segment, with a prioritization on uphill ease.

CASSIAR FAMILY

WOMEN’S SKIS

Waist Width: 79mm - 94mm

Waist Width: 82mm - 112mm

Women’s skis are traditionally diluted, watered-down versions of their standard counterparts. In the name of weight savings, ski builders typically cannibalize performance by removing glass and employing flimsy wood cores. Our constructions are already ultra-lightweight and infused with unrivaled carbon performance. For our women’s line, we shift mounting points to create a ski that is both incredibly easy to ski, and has all the reactivity and power of our bigger thoroughbred chargers—skis built for women rippers—not a market segment.

The mission is to lead and innovate in the hard snow category, since not every day offers blower pow. The skis in the Cassiar family are the tools of choice for frontside ripping, from tight zipper lines to laying deep, even trenches on corduroy, to carving the slickest blue Maine ice. Find the perfect on-piste or hard snow ski that suits your exact preferences. And reap the benefits and pleasure of skis meticulously designed for the frontside experience.

The perfect fusion of carbon/bamboo/glass and cutting-edge chassis design.

Lotus A124 2.0

Wailer A112

Wailer A106

Wailer A99

The Lotus 124 is a ski that many have dubbed, “one of our best ever.” For 18/19, it takes another step forward with strong refinements geared toward creating the most versatile deep pow shape on the planet. The recipient of a freshly refined flex profile, along with subtle rocker refinements and new tip shaping, it emerges as the 2.0. You will benefit from smoother entry into the turn, and overall, an even more poised deep-snow specialty tool.

While the legendary ski shape has remained, Alchemist stokes the smoothness factor on this classic. The Wailer 112 legacy has dominated magazine tests and is known as the shape that truly makes people ski better. It has the versatility for complete control and g-force generation on hard pack, while cradling the rider into the world of powder planing performance. The Wailer A112 consistently and playfully delivers ultimate powder versatility and ease of use in varying conditions.

The Wailer A106 shape represents an enormous sweet spot in any skier’s quiver, and the Alchemist layup makes it that much stronger in the mixed conditions it’s designed to thrive in. It is light and ready to tour, yet also begs to be driven hard daily at the resort, or under the ropes. Reach for it regularly when conditions are decent and experience the new Chassis approach to sidecut and flex profile design. It is a ski that bends around your boot, begging you to modulate the radii of your arcs, as you carve or slarve through a diverse range of snow and terrain.

The Wailer A99 utilizes the Wailer A112’s 3-D PaddleTech Geometry™— DPS’ original blend of rocker and variable sidecut. PaddleTech allows the skier to engage the Wailer A99’s slightly cambered 18m underfoot turn radius while arcing g-loaded carves on hard snow. In soft or mixed snow, the skier draws on the gradually rockered paddle. The Wailer A99 exhibits the best on and off edge performance, and the ability to get creative on the most versatile 100mm underfoot package ever designed.

Cassiar A79 “The Trainer”

Carving is still on the radar, but if one wants to lean more toward shallow storms, or confidently reaching for the right ski a day or two after a small storm –– where shallower pow and a good dose of crud/supportive softer snow is on the docket. While the C94 sways toward softer snow conditions, it can still grip and carve in all but the iciest conditions. C2 Chassis.

At the center of the new Cassiar offerings is the 87mm edition. It’s arguably the most versatile of the newly released Cassiar line. The Cassiar 87 is the perfect choice for everyday resort use where you are 50 percent off-piste and 50 percent on-piste. The C87 carries all the performance and refinement DNA of a C2 ski.

In the year 2000, 82mm underfoot defined an ultra-wide powder ski. These days 82mm is definitely at the narrow end of the spectrum. But alas, 82mm underfoot is now an amazing place for all-mountain excellence with a nod toward the carve. Great overall piste performance with just enough floatation to make mixed snow a terrific pleasure. C2 Chassis.

The Trainer combines a 79mm underfoot waist width and an aggressive slalom turning radius and taper angle. This is a ski that encourages deep angles and fun, with controllable speed across the fall line, rather than straight down it. Unlike a race ski that has a one dimensional, piste-oriented personality, we have applied insight from our powder and big mountain skis to give the A79 extra versatility toward all-mountain excellence. The A79 is only offered in an Alchemist layup.

Nina A99

Uschi A94

Powder in the morning, crud in the afternoon, and carved groomed arcs down for après. The Yvette A112 combines the loose and early planing feel of a fully rockered ski with aggressive sidecut and slight camber underfoot. Taking cues from the redesign of the Wailer 112RP2, the legend continues as the Yvette A112 features an even greater sweet spot geared for optimal high-speed and crud performance.

The classic Zelda A106 shape emerges in Alchemist carbon sweetness. There isn’t a more powerful, positively connected ski construction on earth. It is matched with a flex pattern and rocker line that is forgiving in the shovel—easily ushering you into turns that evolve into powerful rewarding finishes. Skiers also benefit from Alchemist’s infinite flex life. Zelda is the dream package: ideal for resort skiing, faraway trips, and tours—or whatever you throw at it in varying conditions.

Based on the award-winning Yvette 112RP2 platform, the Nina A99 exhibits similar versatility in a narrower package. The Nina A99 utilizes the Yvette’s 3-D PaddleTech Geometry™—DPS’ original blend of rocker and variable sidecut. PaddleTech allows the skier to engage the Nina’s slightly cambered 18m underfoot turn radius for arcing g-loaded carves on hard snow. In soft or mixed snow, the skier draws on the gradually rockered paddle to get creative.

The Uschi 94 features the new C2 platform–– it’s the widest of the Uschi line, and skews towards soft snow performance for most women, but is still accessible as a wider everyday resort board in deeper snow climates. To imagine the perfect scenario for the Uschi 94: 2-4 days after a medium-sized storm, 80 percent of the day is in crud and trees, and 20 percent is used for the occasional piste run. Also, consider the U94 as a great allaround mixed snow touring choice. C2 Chassis.

This ski is a special and unique beast. Lightweight touring constructions are traditionally skinny little sticks. But, what if you are putting in big days of vert in the deepness of Japan or BC? On the Tour1 Lotus 124, by 4pm your legs and spirit will give you a pat on the back for choosing the lightest pow surfer on planet earth. Plane in powder, transform the skin track into a powder escalator.

Touring skis are traditionally 60-80mm toothpicks designed for fast ascents and regimented skin tracks. Well, the best untracked snow is worth walking for. The award-winning Wailer 112 Tour1 weighs less than most significantly narrower traditional fiberglass touring shapes, but still delivers carbon’s inherent power benefits in deeper and mixed snow. Go strong for days with this legitimately light uphill supercharger, and one of the most soft-snow versatile and easiest skiing shapes in the history of the sport.

If you live in a consistently snowy region that usually delivers in centimeters or inches, not feet and meters, then the Wailer’s 106mm waist is an ideal central piece of your quiver. The Wailer 106 Tour1 is ultralight and polite in the skin track. Keep it broad, with one ski in your bag for a utility knife approach that delivers broad pleasure and predictable precision due to its Chassis-driven rocker and sidecut design.

The iconic Wailer 99 shape precedes itself with its long line of noted accomplishments across all construction types. It’s a winning design with countless best-in-class awards. We’ve drawn from our extensive Chassis R+D project and created a verifiable winner in the Foundation 112. It’s a brand new, ground up riff on the construction and shaping of the quiver classic Wailer 112RP2 that features a longer fore-body and new flex pattern.

Wailer F106

Wailer F999

The Foundation 106 is a ski to get excited about. Foundation’s novel bamboo design has taken the overall feel of damping and solidity to new levels. The F106 benefits from a refined rocker line and Chassis-inspired sidecut, which provides instant engagement and a smooth turn finish. Both attributes accent the hypnotic feel of a flex profile that bends around your boot, drawing you directly into deeper, more playful arcs across a wide range of terrain and snow.

In the heart of the Foundation lineup is the 99, a shape that diverts away from the traditional Pure3 and Hybrid versions that were heavily tapered in the tip and tail. The Foundation 99 has a longer sidecut length to engage evolving radii as the ski progressively gets pushed harder and at higher edge angles. The rocker profile remains virtually untouched, which means easy turn entry and exit, and substantial float for 99mm underfoot. The F99 is a little brother to the F106 and offers ultimate in go-everywhere, do-everything versatility.

Cassiar F94

Cassiar F87

Cassiar F82

Carving is accessible with the Cassiar 94, but if one wants to give more focus toward those shallow storms, or being on the perfect ski a day or two after a storm––days where you mix in a good dose of crud and supportive soft snow. The Foundation choice will feel damper, smoother, and more forgiving than the Alchemist, yet also less reactive and energetic. C2 chassis.

At the center of the new Cassiar family offering is the 87mm edition. A perfect choice for everyday resort use where you are 50 percent off-piste and 50 percent on-piste. The Cassiar 87 carries all the performance and refinement DNA of a C2 ski. This Foundation choice will feel damper and smoother than the Alchemist version, and a bit less reactive and energetic.

In the year 2000, 82mm underfoot was an ultra-wide powder ski. These days, it’s at the narrow end of the spectrum. That said, 82mm underfoot is still an amazing place for all-mountain excellence. Great piste performance, with just enough flotation to make mixed snow a great pleasure. The Foundation choice will feel damper, smoother, and more forgiving than the Alchemist, yet also less reactive and energetic. C2 chassis.

Yvette F112

Nina F99

Uschi F94

A classic quiver shape is revitalized in a special construction package. Powder in the morning, crud in the afternoon, and carved groomed arcs down for après. The Foundation Yvette 112 combines the loose and early planing feel of a fully rockered ski with aggressive sidecut and slight camber underfoot. In the new Foundation regime, the Yvette gets a dramatically more responsive construction than past Hybrids. This perennial award-winning design is now damper, more responsive, and easier to ski than ever before.

The new Chassis platform makes edge-to-edge transfers so predictable, intuitive, and smooth that the Foundation Zelda 106 is a joy to ski in all conditions. Take her everywhere from soft moguls, trees, and high alpine couloirs—she’ll perform. The combination of user-friendliness coupled with a predictably stable bamboo platform underfoot has never been so strongly demonstrated in the women’s ski category.

The 99 Foundation Chassis is the new standard for mixed snow and all-mountain versatility. The Chassis design places your boot in the optimal place within both the flex profile and the sidecut, which fosters predictability and a powerful response. While the sidecut travels farther up the shovel than the previous Nina 99, a refined shovel rocker profile still lets you get creative on the most versatile 100mm underfoot package ever designed.

The Uschi 94 features the new C2 platform––the widest of the Uschi line starts skewing more towards soft snow performance for most women, but is still accessible as a wider everyday resort board in deeper snow climates. The Foundation choice will feel damper, smoother, and more forgiving than the Alchemist, yet also less reactive and energetic. C2 chassis.

If you ski at resorts with medium-to-low level snowfall and snowpack, the Uschi 82 is an amazing one ski quiver option for many women. It will excel on-piste, handle any part of the mountain, yet still feel capable and floaty in shallow soft snow. Never Wax Again. Ski wax has been around since the 1850s and has always been assumed to be a necessary piece of the snow sliding puzzle. Its development over time has been dominated by the one-run world of ski racing and less by the needs of the everyday skier or snowboarder. In the 1980s, again driven by racing’s desire for speed in small doses, dangerous perfluorocarbons and other toxic chemical additives were included in wax recipes to broaden performance and increase operational temperature ranges. Wax still depends on the need for the inconvenient and constant reapplication of chemical functional groups that cause widespread damage to the environment and those applying it.

Permanence Breeds Ultimate Convenience. Unlike wax, Phantom is only applied once, and permanently alters the entire thickness of your bases to make them both faster and harder. Performance never drops off, regardless of days ridden or stone grinds.

Speed and Performance. Consistent glide and speed. Phantom is fast across a broad range of conditions and temperatures. Phantom mirrors the glide of all temperature wax in most mid-winter snow conditions, and exceeds it in warmer snow temperatures.

Environment. Traditional waxes are comprised of unstable toxic chemicals that breach into the watershed, causing widespread damage to the ecosystem and health of all living organisms. Phantom is engineered to feature the fastest components of traditional waxes but in functional groups that are both inert to the environment and safe to those applying it.

Phantom is a permanent, one-time application base-coating that forever eliminates the need for waxing skis and snowboards. It’s a disruptive, truly innovative solution that ushers in a new era in snowsports. Phantom’s patent-pending polymer technology offers ultimate convenience combined with great glide performance that never wanes across all snow temperatures, and for the life of a ski or board’s use. Phantom eliminates the damage traditional wax does to watersheds, along with the health risks for people applying it. Phantom can be applied to any new or used ski or snowboard at any point in a board’s life cycle, at a price that quickly delivers strong value.
