Skinner's July 2009 auction of Science Technology & Clocks features the most comprehensive collection of scientific instruments to come to market in a long time. From a private collection, offerings include several important pairs of globes by Newton, a sextant by Ramsden, an octant by George Jones, equinoctial dials, astrolabes, chronometers, microscopes and nautical antiques. In addition, about 100 American and European clocks will be sold which include ship’s bell clocks by Chelsea, chronometers, a 10 tune musical longcase clock by Joseph Eayre, a month duration, ¼ chiming longcase clock by Thomas Hackney, bracket clocks, technical pocket watches and a rare Rolex, triple date chronograph “Jean Claude Killy” Ref. 6036 wristwatch. Topping the clock offerings, an important floor-standing Astronomical Regulator made by E. Howard, Boston will be sold for the first time since new, in 1867.
