March 16, 2018 | 10AM | 63 Park Plaza, Boston, MA Preview: Wednesday, March 14, 12–5PM | Thursday, March 15, 12–7PM | Friday, March 16, 9–10AM With highlights from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and China, our March sale offers exceptional works of art from discerning collectors across many generations. We will offer important works from the Middle East: a 13th century Kashan lustre bowl and a rare Persian lacquer painting, in the manner of the 19th century painter Mirza Agha Emami (1881-1995), as well as a large collection of Persian and Indian miniature paintings. A large, bronze, seated Thai Buddha and a bronze standing figure of Parvati, possibly 12th century India, highlight our offering of Southeast Asian works of art. Most works in the sale are Chinese, the earliest being a large, finely modeled sancai-glazed camel which has been tested and dated to the Tang dynasty. A group of exceptional blue and white ceramics span several dynasties, the earliest of which is a Ming kendi. An Imperial edict dating to the Yongzheng 13th year (1735) is a rarity and in excellent condition. The sale also includes a group of fine jades and cloisonné. On the cover: We are pleased to offer this wisteria painting by Taiwanese artist Chen Dancheng (b. 1919) who has received many awards for his traditional painting and calligraphy.
