While living in the United States, Laurent became an avid and passionate researcher of antique tools. He served on the Board of several organizations including the Early American Industry Association, an organization dedicated to the study and preservation of ancient trades and tools in the United States. For over twenty years, Laurent collected ancient tools and researched the codes and symbols associated with tools over the centuries and how they relate to Europe’s history of conflicts, wars, secret societies, and religious and political allegiances. In his book, Codes & Symbols of European Tools, Laurent chose to present tools in their historical context and by theme rather than in a simple trade classification. It makes their story all the more compelling and intriguing. Those tools witnessed amazing scenes, raging battles, and the construction of cathedralsand temples, as well as many modest homes. The tools themselves are the keys to a number of secret codes and symbols used by numerous religions and by Freemasons, journeymen, Compagnons, and masters of nearly every trade. Laurent Adamowicz is the founder and president of EChO – Eradicate Childhood Obesity Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity aiming to revolutionize food labels by showing in real-time how much added sugar your food contains, bypassing food label policy by using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. EChO recently launched SugAR Poke smartphone app using AR and is developing a food opera to reach children. Laurent’s TED Talks are: “What has your food been eating?” and “Secondary Sugar Kills.” A member of the Nutrition Round Table at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Laurent holds a BA in International Affairs from ESCP-Europe in Paris, an MBA from the Wharton School, a Master of Arts in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University in New York, and is a Senior Fellow of the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University.
