Huntington’s Epaulettes Major General Jedediah Huntington’s Epaulettes, decorated with bullion fringe and two metallic threadwork and sequin stars, the underside with original silk pillow and buff cloth lining and blue cloth strap. $4,000-6,000
Darling’s Wallet Benjamin Darling’s Revolutionary War Tooled Sheepskin Wallet, the brass clasp secures a flap that opens to two pockets. A note affixed to the lower pocket states that the wallet was purchased on March 18, 1776, the day after the British army evacuated Boston. $300-400
Horseman’s Saber Revolutionary War Brass-hilted Animal-head Horseman’s Saber, a form thought to originate in New Hampshire, the saber has a hilt with an elaborate knuckle bow and double branches extending to a pierced counterguard mounted on a curved single fuller blade. $2,000-4,000

Hand-drawn Revolutionary War Order of Battle for General George Washington’s Troops Opposite West Point, 1780. Drafted for Major Moses Ashley of the Massachusetts Brigade, the sheet documents the American forces and their commanders assembled for an anticipated battle in the immediate aftermath of Benedict Arnold’s attempt to hand over West Point to the British. Stylized unit flags decorate each corps and depictions of dragoons flank the title. $15,000-25,000

Militia Group American Militia Officer’s Hat, Hatbox, and Accessories, the wellpreserved box with original label holds its original leather shako with silver-plated plate and visor. A pair of epaulettes with blue cloth and bullion fringe and woven cotton belt with a silver-plated brass plate and two silver-plated and eagle-adorned cap flutes round out the lot. $800-1,200
Crocket Bowie Knife Henry Clay’s Davy Crocket-presented Bowie Knife, unmarked, but certainly made by Henry Schively in Philadelphia, with checkered horn grip and German silver fittings and original German silvermounted scabbard; the throat of the scabbard marked “T.B. Watkins/1858” and on the back “D. Crocket/1830.” $20,000-40,000
Parker’s Pocket Watch Silver-cased Pocket Watch of Warren F. Parker, 5th Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, the case, with silver chain, is engraved with an eagle above a decorated aperture exposing the dial. A patriotic envelope addressed to Parker was found within the case along with a Confederate Gardner minié ball. $200-400
Camp Candlesticks Chaplain Arthur B. Fuller’s Brass Camp Candlesticks, the otherwise simple candlesticks are engraved “Chaplain/A.B. Fuller” and “16th/ Ms. Inf.” Although discharged from active service on December 10, 1862, Chaplain Fuller picked up a musket and fought as a private in the streets of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was tragically killed on December 11. $200-300

Rare Henry Rifle Rare Martially-marked Henry Rifle, captured by Lieutenant General Wade Hampton’s cavalry corps from the 1st District of Columbia Cavalry during the Beefsteak Raid, September 1864. The rifle’s serial number, 3628, falls within the known range of arms issued to the 1st D.C. Cavalry. Engraved on the top of the receiver “W. Hampton” in a style similar to Hampton’s signature found on period documents. The rifle was later presented to General Hampton’s adjutant, Major Henry B. McClellan, 1st Lieutenant and Adjutant of the 3rd Virginia Cavalry, through whose family it descended. Accompanying the lot is a manuscript letter by Robert E. Lee describing Major McClellan’s service and an inscribed photo of McClellan. $75,000-100,000

Rough Riders Krag Carbine
Group of Civil War Soldier Photographs and a Possible Prisoner of War Photograph Case, the wooden case is inlaid with motherof-pearl hearts, diamonds, stars, and crescents, and a central plaque engraved “Co G/22nd Regt/MVM.” $300-500
Roosevelt’s Rough Riders Model 1895 Krag Saddle Ring Carbine, used at the battle of San Juan Hill, the rifle, serial number 27892, was issued to trooper Alvin Ash of Troop G, 1st U.S.V. Cavalry, who was wounded in the wrist by Spanish artillery while serving with Capron’s Battery. It survives in excellent condition with traces of the inspector’s cartouche visible behind the saddle ring and the metal retains traces of bluing.
With many rare and interesting objects from the Civil War-era, including Schuylkill Arsenal musicians mounted services jackets, brogans, tintypes, and more, this auction has something for militaria collectors of every type.
Trooper Ash (born 1871 in Merrilltown, Texas) lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the time of his enlistment, participated in the fight on July 1, 1898, and was mustered out of service on September 15, 1898, due to illness. Ash died in 1946. $40,000-60,000

Joseph Fox’s Pewter Tobacco Box, simple wrigglework engraving on the top and lid frames the owner’s name and initials.
