A nonfictionbooklet about Egyptian tombs.

EGYPTIAN TOMBS

Do you know where rich people in ancient Egypt were buried when they died? Did you know they weren’t buried in graveyards? Here you will learn about Egyptian tombs! If you don’t know what a tomb is or why they were built and the cool things about them, YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO READ THIS! I’M NOT KIDDING!

WHY WERE TOMBS BUILT? The first pharaohs in ancient Egypt were buried in the desert. Animals kept digging up the bodies of the pharaohs, so then they decided to bury people in tombs. Tombs were homes to the pharaohs that have passed away. Tombs in ancient Egypt protected the coffins of pharaohs and their treasures. Tombs held lots of things for the afterlife. Sometimes pharaohs wouldn’t even want to be buried in a tomb. There are many interesting facts about tombs, but these facts are most important.

PROTECTION OF TOMBS / TOMB RAIDERS To keep the pharaoh protected, a trap would be installed in their tomb. Ancient Egyptians dug holes in the ground, so if a tomb raider invaded their tomb they would fall in the hole. Although tomb raiders were clever sometimes they would escape, but there are still more obstacles they will face. An ancient Egyptian statue called the Sphinx also guarded the tombs. Tomb raiders invaded so many tombs that little of the tombs in Egypt were untouched. Also many layers of the pharaoh’s coffin protected [him/her] from being disturbed. These are all the important things that needed to be known about tomb raiders and traps.

TREASURES AND ARTS INSIDE A TOMB There was a lot of luxury inside a tomb, but these are the most prized possessions. Obviously in a tomb there was a mummified human being, because that was the whole entire reason the tomb was built. There were many things in a tomb like amulets, canopic jars, jewelry, make up, and food were all inside a tomb and guess what? There were even more contents inside a tomb. It wasn’t really like contents, it was just art, beautiful art. Art was inside a tomb to tell the story of the daily life of that person and what happened each and every single day of his/her life. These drawings explained everything. These were the things inside a tomb.

SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OF TOMBS A lot of the pharaohs in ancient Egypt were buried in the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings was a common burial ground. There was another burial ground near Thebes and the Nile River. Most of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings were robbed. A tomb was a home to the pharaoh after death. Below is a map of Nefertiti’s tomb.
