Where are you from? I’ve lived in Arizona, Oregon, and California but grew up in St. Louis
Age? 22 Are you represented by an agency? Wilhelmina Models
Have you worked with any big clients? Old Navy
What companies are you dying to work with? Wildfox and Sports Illustrated
How would you describe your personal style? I grew up as an athlete so I’ve always had a very laid back, athletic/beachy sense of style. I’m really into wearing simple neutral basics and sprucing them up with cute accessories and shoes. At the end of the day whatever I wear absolutely has to be comfortable. I’m all about the comfy.

Are there any mod- Beach Bar or els that you look Nightclub? up to and admire? Both :) Crystal Renn has always inspired me with her passion and with how she broke into the high fashion world as a curvy model. Her story is truly inspiring and relatable to so many. Especially those who have struggled with the pressures of society trying to fit us all into one cookie cutter mold of how we should look. Gisele bundchen has also been one of the models I have always looked up to. I love how athletic and natural she is, as well as her energy and spirit.
I am going to ask you a series of one word answer questions: Fav color? Plum
Jeans or dress? Dress
Fav food? Shellfish and sushi
Red lips or Pink? Mauve
Smokey eyes or cat eyes? Cat eyes
What do you never leave home without? Lip balm and rose water spray
If we were to look in your purse what would be the most embarrassing thing we would find? The fact that I bring so much with me... my friends always joke how I have a Mary poppins bag. I have multiple chargers,my wifi hotspot, makeup, hand wipes, and a million lip products. I’m prepared if I get stranded on an island you know?

Sunbathing is a series inspired by the iconic works of Max Dupain and Anne Zahalka. Dupain’s 1937 photograph the “Sunbaker” is an iconic representation of the “beautiful” golden tanned beach ideal. Dupain’s image was appropriated in 1989 by Anne Zahalka, in her “The Sunbather #2” a photograph from her series “Bondi: playground of the Pacific,” where she challenged Dupain’s representation of the beach demographic, featuring a slim, pale skinned, red haired subject.

Understanding that our bodies and appearance in all forms, should not limit or restrict living a full and happy life. Loving your look, loving your body, loving your physical state. may not be able to move the legs, the only part of their body they may be able to move is their head. They rely on others for the basic things that we take for granted each day. When I’m not nurse Amber, I am just me, learning to live every day with Multiple Sclerosis. I know that the greatest gift of life is my body, and the most important thing is to not only look after my body but to LOVE it! So when entering the fashion industry with my label Nyata, and the modeling industry as a model for BELLA Model Management, and seeing such a focus on external appearance, I understood the need for society to shift their way of thinking about body image. I understood that to feel amazing externally, we must first feel amazing internally. We must respect, appreciate and honour the body we have been given because it is the only one we have got. We must appreciate that our body, gives us the gift of life, and that our body should be the thing we treasure, respect and look after the most.
Tormenting ourselves whilst trying to live up to unrealistic society standards of ‘what beauty should look like’, ‘what the perfect shape is’, or what ‘number on the scales you should be’, is damaging and wrong. It needs to stop.

Being critical of our bodies is disrespecting ourselves. Our body is the most amazing and wonderful thing, it does not deserve to be hated. We were all born to be different. We were born to be different for a reason. We need to embrace our uniqueness and celebrate our perfect imperfections. We need to start being real, raw and natural, and be proud of all that we are. In our own individual form. Next time you go to criticise the size of your ass in the mirror, think about those who cannot even get out of bed and walk to look at themselves in the mirror. The size of your ass comes last. Reality check time society.
This movement celebrates beauty in its natural state and in all forms. None of the models are wearing makeup, none of the models have been airbrushed. This was a day of liberation, standing side by side together, as a strong and confident group of women who have embraced their bodies in its entirety and proudly flaunt this love to the world.

MODEL BRITTNEY TAMANG PHOTOGRAPHER AND ART DIRECTION JESSICA KANE
Meet Brittney Tamang Executive Director Model Zone
Tell us a little about yourself? I grew up in a small town in Missouri and you could basically sum me up in three words poor, tall, and FAT. While I tend to prefer the term plus-size, fat (in the derogatory sense) seems to fit how I thought everyone saw me. I grew up wanting to be a model, and knowing that no one around me believed it would happen...at least not to girls like me. What do you mean girls like you? I mean big girls, fat girls, plus-size girls, and poor girls. I remember actually sewing my own designs growing up, because we couldn't afford new clothes. I think that because I was POOR and FAT people thought I was destined to be a failure, I always knew better though. So when did you decide to go after your dreams? I did the college thing, ya know? I struggled, I worked hard to support myself, I bought a house, I got married and I achieved the “American Dream”. The only problem was - it wasn't MY dream. That’s when I had a quarter-life crisis, and I asked myself if I would be ok living the rest of my life never knowing what could be,
because I never tried. The answer to that? Well, obviously the answer was no. I mean I literally packed up and moved across the country in about 10 days on a leap of faith. WOW! So how did you get started? I was actually "discovered", and I use that term loosely, by a photographer my first week in Dallas, for a shoot for SKORCH. It's funny how things come full circle! I spent three months learning the good, the bad, and downright ugly of the industry before I packed up and moved to Orlando. What's the ugly part? I learned how many women want to be models! There is huge competition among women, and there is a clear divide between the women who want to be a part of it. The TFP scene is way sketch, great photography is unbelievable expensive, and people don't want to share information, out of fear that the next person may do better than them. Is that why you started Model Zone? YESSSS! Model Zone is about learning how to help each other grow in this industry. I have had the pleasure of networking and creating lasting relationships with so many people, and I love drawing them together and pushing women forward. I don't see some-
with Model Zone? I really want to bridge the gap between models and publications/ agencies. I think there is a huge misconception that the more photography you have in your portfolio the better, and that is just not true. It is about the quality of your work not the quantity. I think a lot of publications struggle to get great submissions, and a lot of models spend all their money trying to be published. The business side is the same as the modeling side. Businesses fear assisting with another business’s success. I want to create relationships that benefit everyone without conflict, and help us all achieve our goals. What kinds of packages do you offer? Well right now we offer one virtual training package, which includes training tips, and materials on different aspects of modeling. I am so proud that Skorch has agreed to become a mentor, and I am currently finalizing partnerships with other publications and agencies. Our $10 package will give models input directly from people who know how to be successful. Most importantly, the information is current - What are publications looking for right now? How can I make my pictures stand out? How do I brand myself to get noticed?
Don't you also have photography packages? I do, actually. I am able to offer portfolio options, servicing central Missouri, central Florida, and central Texas. We have two packages that can be viewed at modelzonellc.com. They are affordable and high quality, because the concept behind the shoots will fall in line with seasons for publications. They are coached by me, and shot by reputable photographers. So you pride yourself on being affordable? I pride myself on being a safe way to network with reputable companies, however offering affordable packages was also really important to me. I don't want women spending their last dime on their dream. I think Model Zone is really going to revolutionize the way models take charge of their own careers. It sounds like you have really big ambitions, if you could give young women any advice what would it be? Don't be afraid to dream bigger than what you see around you. There are going to be a million people who say you won't make it, but none of them know you’re capable of better than you. #GirlPower #WomenMatter

COUNTRY ROAD POCKET CAPE Perfect for effortless, chic winter days.
Chic meets cozy this season. Sumptuous blankets, luxe ponchos, feather light capes, cocooning coats... Give it up for the new seasons wrap stars.
cloaks…you know basically a cozy blanket outfit. I secretly couldn’t wait to be able to wear them for the Aussie Autumn/Winter season.
We are just at the start of Winter here in Australia, the time of year where additional layers get you through the chill of the season. Now our Winters are nothing compared to the frosty neighboring countries winters, but it gets cold enough to rug up.
Blanket-inspired-coats and overcoats are IN this season and really make a great no-fuss transitional piece between seasons. Wear the wrap belted or draped over the shoulders for effortless style with maximum impact.
Whilst visiting the UK at Christmas I practically lived in ponchos, capes,

EDER & BERK BELLA CASHMERE LEATHER TRIM CAPE The ultimate show stopper cape that will never go out of style.
Now of course the idea of a blanket wrap doesn’t sound fashion forward at all - It’s all about adding luxurious details: rich-looking rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, a pair sunglasses, sexy shoes, or over-the-knee boots. Balance the knit, Aztec prints, bohemian, fuss-free, cozy style of the poncho with the exact opposite for an overall sophisticated style. xo Sam

I have always had an interest in fashion and all things beauty since I was young. I would watch a lot of makeovers and Americas Next Top Model growing up. In high school, I developed an interest in photography and started to photograph my friends senior portraits. Through photography and photoshop was when I found I could digitally alter makeup onto photos. That was where my aesthetic for my makeup and style developed. Later, I started to freelance on my own with photography and makeup while going to school for nursing and a year later started to work in cosmetic retail part-time. During my time working retail, I started my Youtube channel. You are a super star makeup artist, what is like getting more involved with fashion?
skinny jeans when I was 22! It has been amazing to work with amazing stylists to learn my personal style! I’m still learning to slay and werk it day to day! lol. Ok, so how do you identify yourself? There are so many misconceptions about whether you are trans, or drag? How do you respond? I am a boy who loves makeup. I know my face is very feminine. I look just like my mom! I grew up with no sisters so I would always practice makeup on myself. My face can handle a lot of makeup, and most times I get mistaken for female in public. I don't mind at all! I just want to show the world if I as a man can wear makeup, they can too! What are some of your fav beauty tricks?
I love stacking and customizing lashes! Lashes really take a makeup look to the It is so amazing. Growing up next level! Sometimes I will with a masculine/boy style was stack 2-3 pairs on a client all I knew. I started to wear and maybe 6-7 on me! lol.

I don’t respond to negativity, I embrace it. People on Youtube or any other social media can be so mean, but you can't change what they say. YOU can change what YOU choose to see. I choose not to look at it. I choose to SEE that those haters are giving me more views to my YouTube video! #YAZ Finally, what can we expect to see from Patrick in the future? I am hoping to grow as a person and as a makeup artist. I’ve always wanted to brand with a product - I just don't know what it is at the moment. When the time is right, the time is right. I can't wait until that time comes! :D

This remarkable woman has inspired so many and we encourage you to say hi and share your stories with her at instagram.com/honorcurves.
This month, I am extra excited about the #HonorMyCurves feature. This community is so incredible and I am honored to share the stories of so many women each and everyday. There are men in this community too; men continuing to struggle with their own body woes and self-acceptance issues daily who are sometimes heard a little less in the body-positivity space. This month we dive into the stories of four beautiful souls who are on their own journeys to honor themselves and their bodies, and who see things from their own unique perspectives, men who have gone from self-doubt to self-love and who inspire us to do the same. I am so grateful for the entire #HonorMyCurves community and the beautiful and courageous humans who make it up; this community is full of people who lift each other up by lifting themselves up, and there is nothing more awesome than that!
Let the words of these beautiful men serve as a reminder that we all have days where we mentally struggle with our worth, but CAN overcome these false thoughts with some kindness. Women and men are out there feeling inadequate right now, and there is no reason to waste another day on this feeling. We are souls experiencing life in physical bodies, and each one of us is as deserving, of our own kindness and love, as the next. View these men’s Instagrams to read their full stories and peruse the #HonorMyCurves hashtag to see countless others who inspire us to love ourselves more and always HONOR OUR CURVES. When you shine, we all shine. Own your curves, accept yourself, and never apologize for your beauty or your body. xox Honor Curves

GRANT LANE ig @grantifrass
Albuquerque, NM
Grant is a beautiful man with an amazing heart. His journey has been another must-follow for me. When I asked what this process has meant for him, Grant said: “For me, honoring my curves is about accepting myself for who I am and learning to love the real me. It’s about having the courage to abandon all I’ve ever known about beauty and to create my own rules. Honoring my curves is also about recognizing my privilege as a man and illuminating the inequality woman face everyday in our society, whether it’s bodyimage related or otherwise. I believe that everyone deserves to love themselves unconditionally, and to respect and be proud of their bodies. If I can inspire that self-love with hashtags and selfies, then I’ll always be proud to #honormycurves.”

BROOKLYN, NY
Jamal (www.jamaltlewis.com) inspires me everyday with beautiful artistry and amazing words. I am so excited to have Jamal share what honoring his body means to him. Jamal says: “Honoring my curves, for me, means loving my body unabashedly and not being ashamed of it or the space I take up in the world. For many years, I felt apologetic and ashamed of my body because of how others responded to it and the pressures it imposed upon me. It took for me to spend lots of time listening to myself and trusting the body that does so much for me. It took for me to decolonize the ways in which I understood fatness and had learned to see myself through the white gaze and hegemonic conceptions of beauty. It took for me to remind myself that I deserve to look in the mirror and be okay with what looks back at me, to be okay with being ugly and reclaiming it as a blessing not existing as oppositional to pretty/attractive/desirable. My advice to others would be to treat yourself in the ways that you deserve to be treated and to regard your body as the magnificence that it is; to fashion your body in ways that blow your mind and do it because you want to and because you know that you are the sugar, honey, iced tea. Photo by Bummah Ndeh

Pedro M Flores Jr. ig @pete_teddyburger TEXAS
I have been following the super-rad Pedro for quite some time, and appreciate both his artwork and his messages regarding his own body-positivity and self-love journey. I asked him what this journey has been like for him, as a man in a community without many male representatives. Pedro said: “I’m a father of two working multiple careers, and continue to take time out for various art projects and to help promote body positivism and self-acceptance for both women and men alike. I have always felt there wasn’t much posted regarding men’s issues, situations or positions in the body positive community; I know females are very much attacked towards their weight, ethnicity and other insecurities, but men fall victim
to the same category issues as well. I know first hand that the struggles are real even for the male counterparts. I was not only overweight growing up but also diagnosed with multiple thyroid diseases and depression. Combined with being ridiculed, it took a bad toll on my youthful years. In just these past couple of years I’ve managed to change my life inside and out; I have built on my self-esteem and become better acquainted with myself: to better accept and love who I am as a man of multiple issues! It’s not always that easy to be self-accepting yet it is a process I am completely satisfied with and proud of. I only hope more men and women out there can see that it is okay to recognize our “flaws” yet continue to be as welcoming to ourselves. Guys, It’s okay to be flawed. It’s okay to be aware. It’s okay to be inspired, but MORE importantly, it’s okay to be yourself!”

curves NATHANAEL LARK ig @nathanaellark LOS ANGELES, CA
Nathanael (www.nathanaellark.com) is an incredible body-positive illustrator and beacon of light in the self-love community. He often reflects love out to women who really need it and he lifts and inspires us with his perception of our beauty. When asked about honoring his own body, Nathanael shared that this reflection of love back to so many diverse female bodies led to the appreciation of his own worth. He said: “I think your curves are the most beautiful part about you. I see your curves as those delightful personal qualities (physical or otherwise) which deviate from the average and unfold the magnificent imperfect perfection of who you are... as you are! As an artist, I celebrate those things about you because I can see your beauty there. After a lifetime of insecurity and self-doubt, I am finally learning to see that same beauty in myself. I honor my curves by loving myself without guilt or apology and by having the courage to share my voice.
