#honormycurves by honor curves
This month I feature four incredible women who inspired me with fashion, with words, and with inner and outer beauty that shined through. It is contagious to see women loving themselves in all their different shapes and sizes. It is inspiring to see how their unique fashion senses manifest and what words they will bring to the table. As we hit the middle of summer, I couldn’t be more honored to share summer outfits, bathing suits, loving words, and even some health inspiration with all of you! These four beautiful women have been inspirations in my life for so many reasons: Jada, with her goals to be more than a beautiful model whom we all admire, but a role model for self-love as well; Amarachi, for smiling so brightly and loving her gorgeous body on the beach; Bo, for fighting back against the ideals of an industry that wanted her to change, by accepting and loving herself as she is; and Sandra, who reminds us that we can love ourselves at any shape, size, or color, and enjoy fashion TODAY, as we are. Own your curves, accept yourself, and never apologize for your beauty. xoxo Honor Curves APRIL 2013 \ PG62 \ WWW.SKORCHMAG.COM

#honormycurves amarachiukachu Washington DC instagram @amarachiukachu Amarachi, a freelance designer and stunning fashion blogger (www. amarachiukachu.com), soaks up the rays on the beach with an awe-inspiring photo and a smile that says it all. Amarachi says: “To me honoring my curves is about loving every inch of my body no matter what other people may think of it. It’s about wearing what makes me happy and not dressing
to please others. One of my favorite quotes comes to mind: ‘There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself, comfortable in her perfect imperfection.’ To me that is the true essence of beauty.”

#honormycurves bostanley Carpinteria, CA instagram @bostanley Bo, beautiful model and professional surfer, rode up onto the shores of self-love with this incredible post about focusing on your talent and your health, and not letting others’ opinions stand in the way of what you do. Bo says: “All of my life I have been tall, athletic and built larger than
the “average girl.” I was thrown into an industry, professional surfing, where looks and being skinny outweighed my athleticism. I was constantly criticized for not being a “sample size 2” no matter how well I surfed. I honor my curves today because I have learned that being healthy, happy

#honormycurves jadasezer London, UK instagram @jadasezer Jada, one of the hottest curvy models in the industry today, and one many recognize from the Asos Curve catwalk, sizzles here in shorts. This woman is an inspiration for many reasons; she is beautiful and her goal to be more than a model but also a ROLE model is something that makes her very special. Jada says: “Does it define me? Does it excite me? Am I fulfilled? Should
I change? Does it even matter? Sometimes I sit and wonder but I stumble upon the same conclusion: whatever my heart and soul fully embraces in turn reflects out into reality. Fall in love with yourself; bloom into the best person you can be by YOUR OWN standards. Let go of your hang ups and see the world for all its beauty and offerings.

#honormycurves sandranegron New York, NY instagram @lapecosapreciosa Sandra, a gorgeous fashion blogger, www. lapecosapreciosa.com, has no end to amazing outfits to share with the world. Her classy, playful style got my attention right away. Sandra says: “I never lost the baby weight I’d gained after having my son in 1996, and I became depressed. In 2006, I snapped out of it and I got my groove back. I stepped out of comfort zone by wearing things I normally wouldn’t wear, like strapless dresses that exposed my arms and shorter skirts that showed off
my legs. After reading plus-size blogs and finding out there were other women just like me, I felt “free to be me.” I started blogging last year to be an inspiration to others like myself, and to let them know it’s okay to love who you are no matter what size, shape, or color you are. I honor my curves by loving everything about my body and not letting society tell me what they think I should wear or how I should look. If I like something, I’m going to wear it!”

Q&A Q: What inspired you to set forth in a career as well as community involvement that focuses on helping others, especially women?
vices that specifically meet the needs of women while allowing me to fulfill my entrepreneurial passion to be a small business owner.
A: When I was a child when asked what I wanted to do, I said I either wanted to be a nurse or a teacher. As I grew older, I found a way to combine my interests into a career in psychology. I believe psychotherapy is the work I am meant to do and find it an honor to be a part of a person’s healing evolution and journey. I especially love working with women because since I was a teen mother, I have a special place in my heart for others who are starting out life with this challenge. I know how difficult it is to be a young mother and have to work extra hard to accomplish whatever goals you establish for yourself or to just make ends meet. In general, I am interested in women’s issues and actively pursue ways to champion women’s causes. One of the ways I can do this is by helping as many women as possible to overcome a painful past, and help them get the life they truly want. Launching my own telehealth practice FEB 2013 also enables me to provide ser-
Q. What does empowerment mean to you? A: The main word in empowerment is POWER. Power to me is the energy and force that you have within you. It is the drive that keeps you going, it is the esteem in which you hold yourself. It is self-talk, the things you have running through your mind that tell you, yes, you are a strong and enduring woman, yes, you can handle whatever adversity comes your way, yes, you can multi-task, yes, you have what it takes to do whatever you set your mind to doing. This power comes from believing in myself and from having loving role models who also believe in me and helped to instill this belief within me. I reinforce this power by continuing to do things that help me to grow and evolve as a wife, mother and psychologist. Continued >>

Q: You are currently in the process of starting your own practice that involves helping to heal women who have been through trauma and live the life they want. If you could give the readers one piece of advise for starting the healing process and begin living their lives happily, what would it be? A: Forgive yourself for the past and let go of it. Stop beating yourself up for past mistakes. Forgive those who have hurt you. Holding onto anger keeps you beholden to the source of your anger and it has a kind of power over you. Letting the past go allows you to move on and create a healthy space for you to live, right here, right now and be in the present moment.
Q. You are on the Board of Directors for the Finically Fit Foundation, where you teach a workshop about one’s relationship with money. Can you share with us a piece of advice on how to better our relationship with money? A: First and foremost you must become aware of how you are relating
to your money. Do you ignore it? Do you overspend? Do you throw it away? Do you give it away? Are you respectful, responsible? Once you are aware of the way you treat your money, you can make changes where necessary. The foundation has a series of workshops that take you step by step on the road to financial fitness. The steps include organizing your important documents, creating a budget, balancing your bank statements, and learning how to best utilize financial opportunities. You can find the workshops here: http://www. financiallyfitfoundation.org. I am also available to provide financial awareness coaching, you can direct message me on my Twitter page: Dr. Sandra Eberhardt Q. With three children, a disabled husband, your community ties, and your busy career, how do you live a balanced life? A: I am very careful to not overschedule or overcommit to things. I prioritize what is the most important and set time aside for those things. It is very important to take care of yourself and not overdo it. Continued >>

It is also important so I can have a quality of life where I am enjoying my family, having fun, and doing meaningful work. Q. Don’t be in a hurry, slow down and take it all in. Everything will be all right.

when they go back to work or school because it washed right out! I also love the ombre trend in fun colors for hair, nails and lips.
Q. Your personal style is very fun and funky, but how would you describe your style of artistry? A: I like to think of myself as a pretty fresh and awesome artist. So I think I would describe my style as a modern twist on vintage inspired love affairs and a punk rock spirit.
Q: If you could give one helpful tip for each of these beauty categories, what would they be: Hair, Skincare, and makeup? A: For skincare, a helpful tip would be to always use a great moisturizer and never forget sunscreen. My favorite moisturizer is Lait-Crème by Embryolisse. For hair, I always like to remind my clients that when blow-drying hair, always start at the roots, as it will add volume and determine the direction in which your hair will lay. My makeup tip would be that if you would like a lighter coverage for a fresher, dewy look, mix your foundation with your moisturizer for your own customized bb cream.
Q: What are some of your favorite looks that are trending this summer? A: I love hair chalk!!!! With hair chalk, everyone can incorporate fun colors over the weekend and/or summer and not have to worry about it
Q: If you could only use 3 beauty products ever again, what would they be? A: Revlon Color Stay foundation. You can get it at a great price and it has the same coverage of those more

A: Not taking proper care of eyebrows because they frame your face. Eyebrows are, in my opinion, the most important feature. Whether they are under manicured, or
Q: This issue of Skorch is all about the 90’s. What is your favorite beauty trend from the 90’s? A: One of my favorite beauty trends from the 90’s is the deep lipstick with pale complexion and heavy brow. Q: The 90’s are the new 80’s and definitely making an impact on today’s styles. When it comes to beauty, what can one do to incorporate a 90’s beauty trend but still be up to date? A: Deep, dark lips are very reminiscent of the 90’s as well as natural, messy hair. You can keep those current by wearing them with well-kept brows and some cheek contouring. Of course, for the ultimate 90’s look, just add Doc Martens! Lol.
