courses at institutions other than SLCC or have high school AP test scores, please make sure you submit your official transcripts when you apply to SLCC. Your classes will be evaluated so you can get the credit you’ve earned.

PAYING FOR COLLEGE Financial Aid We want to help you take the worry out of funding your education at SLCC by guiding you toward many types of financial aid, including grants, loans, work-study and scholarships. Get started by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. fafsa.ed.gov

scholarships don’t need to be paid back – they are free money – and all kinds of students receive scholarships. Visit slcc.edu/scholarships for additional information and to apply online for scholarships.

Loans vs. Grants Federal Title IV loan programs assist students with their educational expenses and are repaid when the student is no longer attending or enrolled in at least six credit hours. Grants are gifts of money that do not have to be repaid under most circumstances.

Work Study Federally-funded programs are available to students who are attending at least half-time and demonstrate financial need. Positions are available on campus or at local elementary schools. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are paid as funds are earned.

Tuition Payments SLCC offers a Tuition Payment Plan (TPP) to qualified students. Approved students can make a down payment and pay the balance over four months. Financial aid deadlines, application steps, scholarship information and TPP instructions can be found at slcc.edu/student/financial or call the Financial Aid Office at 801-957-4410.
