Dear SLEMSians, One of the fundamental goals of the standing committee on professional exchange is to promote cultural understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and all health professionals through the facilitation of international student exchanges. After serving as the Local exchange officer in the 2019/2020 executive term, in addition to meeting an exchange student LAURA NAVONI from Italy, I realized that there is more work to be done to ensure our NMO meet this goal. Therefore, my interest in becoming the next National Exchange Officer is a bold step taken in that direction. The responsibility of a NEO is not limited to the said goal but ensuring this goal is met. Which is to a greater extent paramount to me. Ideally, this position will allow me to Implement the knowledge I have acquired so far from attending two consecutive IFMSA meetings (OGA & OARM 2020). In so many ways, I am also willing to collaborate and share my experiences with my team, and other members. using my leadership and communication skills to keep the team members motivated for the tasks ahead. Also, I will be able to increase the number of exchange enthusiast we already have in SLEMSA.. With my foremost concern being to build a sustainable bridge between members of our local committee and the SCOPE international team, through which I will be able to channel vital information from the SCOPE server. Creating a space for networking and endless opportunities for SLEMSians. Presently, I own two highly followed landscape photography pages on social media. as part of advertising our beloved NMO for post pandemic exchanges, I will utilize my photographic skill to rebrand our exchanges by creating admirable promotional materials which will include but not limited to photographs and videos of beautiful sceneries of educational and social importance. Which will be posted on all our social media accounts for easy access to other students and NMOs. With my proven ability to consistently deliver good leadership and also to help build a highly motivated team, I believe I am highly capable and experienced for this position. AS I HAVE METIONED EARLIER, IT IS IMPORTANT TO SET GOALS BUT ENSURING THESE GOALS ARE MET IS PARAMOUNT. BELOW ARE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PLANS I WILL BE PUTTING INTO ACTION FOR THE SMOOTH RUNNING OF OUR STANDING COMMNITTEE.
BY INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF SCOPE TRAININGS AND WORKSHOPS BY MOTIVATING OUR MEMBERS TO MAKE GOOD USE OF EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES. INCREASING THE NUMBER OF OUTGOING EXCHANGE STUDENTS. ENCOURAGE THEM TO PARTICIPATE FULLY IN ACTIVITIES SURROUNDING. OUR STANDING COMMITTEE IN BOTH IFMSA AND SLEMSA.
OUR INCOMING STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE FUN AND FULLY EXPERIENCE OUR CULTURE . ALSO, OUR FELLOW SLEMSIANS WILL BENEFIT EQUALLY FROM THOSE ACTIVITIES. ALL ATTENDEES OF OUR SOCIAL PROGRAMMES ARE ASSURED TO ACQUIRE NEW CRAFTS.
IN AS MUCH AS MONEY IS REQUIRED TO FACILITATE MOST OF OUR ACTIVITIES, I AND MY TEAM WILL DRAW OUT POSSIBLE MEANS OF SECURING FUNDS AND SPONSORSHIP. THIS WILL LESSEN THE FINANCIAL BURDEN ON THE EB. ORGANISE TRAINING FOR OUR OUTGOING STUDENTS ,TO PREPARE THEM FOR FUTURE CHALLENGES DURING THEIR EXCHANGE PERIOD. CAPACITY BUILDING ; SETTING UP STANDARD PROGRAMES FOR INCOMINGS.. INCLUDING UPON ARRIVAL TRAININGS, AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO KEEP THEM MOTIVATED AND REDUCE POSSIBLE CULTURAL SHOCKS. EXCHANGE QUALITY ASSESSMENT IS KEY, I WILL ENSURE THAT ALL INCOMINGS HAVE THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE STANDARD EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL PROGRAMES . BY WAY OF CREATING A GREATE OUTCOME FROM EVERY EXCHANGE.
BY BUILDING PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANISATIONS, COMPANIES AND STAKEHOLDERS, I WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE EASY MEANS OF SECURING FUNDS ,VISAs, AND OTHER IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS. ALSO GIVING OUR NMO A CHANCE PATICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES FACILITATED BY OTHER ORGANISATIONGS.
