CURRICULUM VITAE
EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS A SECRET TO UNLOCK THIS SECRET, YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE PROCESS OF LEARNING JOSEPH DAVID KOROMA
Dear EB, SLEMSians, Two years ago, when I decided to enter medical school, it was with a unilateral mindset to study, get good grades and graduate in 7 years with the knowledge start-up to make me one of the greats. This was a concept shared by the rest of my class. I left my high school as a top unrivalled student, the Head Boy and automatically entered a dog fight. To Have left everything that I loved behind (music, IT and the creative arts), well so I thought at the moment.
01
MOTIVATIONAL LETTER
The publication of this book expanded my recognition throughout the university of Sierra Leone and today lecturers are using Zoom as a medium of lecturing and conducting important meeting everywhere in the country.
I also opted to develop the AFRICA REGIONAL MEETING 2020 (ARM) website not because I was in the website and publicity Team, I saw an opportunity to save huge amount of money for the association which could be used elsewhere Little did I know, that I was about to embark on for the betterment of SLEMSians. a life-changing journey. A journey that is called Due to all my diligent work and past the SLEMSA, and that will set me into a achievements, I was selected to be the first confident, and a passionate global health and Sierra Leonean and SLEMSIAN to be part of the technology leader. INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR MEDICAL First, allow me to introduce myself, name is Joseph David Koroma commonly called ITDOC, a Second-year medical student, a SCORE HERO and the Website and Online Platform Assistant to the VPPRC IFMSA. And today words are not enough to describe how proud and honoured I am to be running for the SLEMSA Secretary General 2021-2022.
Where should I start about this Association? The only medical students’ organization that changes lives, that changed mine. This has provided me with the tools, the thoughts and the years into my membership in the Association I realised that there is so much I can do to help the Executive get work done easily. In December 2019 I started lending my services towards the creation and design of flyers, posters, forms and proposals. In 2020 designed the first electronic voting system changing the demerits of the voting box for class representative. However, I continued to work tirelessly with my IT knowledge and I developed and proposed COMAHS Student Online Library which was sadly not voted in at the last year ‘s National General Assembly. I used this as a stepping stone and changed the mentality of students in Sierra Leone that were unable to use the online portal system and had no idea about Zoom due to lack of technology exposure by writing a book titled ‘A ROAD MAP TO UNDERSTANDING COMAHS PORTAL AND ZOOM CLOUD MEETING’ which was set to enhance the knowledge of students towards lectures.
STUDENT ASSOCIATION International Team where I’m currently serving as the WEBSITE AND ONLINE PLATFORM ASSISTANT TO THE VPPRC, this stimulated me to work harder and represent my NMO and country well. My Vision and Mission is to digitalise SLEMSA’s programs and activities which I tag as the GO GREEN CAMPAIGN. SLEMSA will be the first NMO under my term to have a functional Content Management System. This will enable SLEMSA’s EB, TO, to manage general member’s affairs in different use cases. By Digitising SLEMSA, SLEMSians will have a larger audience to perform well and show their potential. As a person that prides himself in his academics, I will not lose focus. I will instead use my talents and my extracurricular activities as a buffer between career and passion. This is why I want to become the next Secretary General because I feel that there is so much more, I can offer the Association on a broader scale that will not only set SLEMSA on a path to better development in technology but will be an amazing learning opportunity for me. I implore you to let me exert my talent and passion within the Association and let’s go GREEN!!!
Sincerely yours, Joseph David Koroma.

STRETCHING OUR HANDS
o Ensure all activities implemented in SLEMSA are enrolled into IFMSA programs. As the first SLEMSian to be on the International Team, I will use my position in the IFMSA PRC IT to power all SLEMSA programs to be recognized at that top level and create a larger audience for SLEMSians to perform well and show their potential. o Ensure to sign MOUs with other NMOs luring them to act as trainers for some programs thereby broadening the knowledge scope of SLEMSians since I can communicate with them better as the IFMSA PRC IT. o With the president-elect, I will ensure to continue MOUs with already established NMOs and other external bodies for funding and implementation of projects. o Ensure to work with the executive to decentralise SLEMSA projects. § Projects propelled by SLEMSA should not only be focused in Freetown as our organization is tagged ‘Sierra Leone’. So in upcoming projects, SLEMSians will be reaching the provinces and suburbs hence creating a better experience and exposure for SLEMSians and a better health connection with upcoming doctors and their patients steering a better health future for the nation.
