MOTIVATION LETTER Dearest SLEMSians, It is with great honor and prestige that I pen down my intentions. Barack Obama once said “We need to steer clear of this poverty of ambition, where people want to drive fancy cars and wear nice clothes and live in nice apartments but don’t want to work hard to accomplish these things. Everyone should try to realize their full potential.” I have served in many capacities in the association and beyond, and at every opportunity I’ve demonstrated my ability to walk the talk and transform potential to results, consistently. I was part of the organizing committee for the 5th Annual White Coat Ceremony serving as the Vice-Chair and helped the team pull off a successful event. I’ve been committed enough to attend all general assemblies since 2017, and remain a fully paid up member. In 2020, I was part of the Organizing Committee for the Africa Regional Meeting (ARM) in the capacity of Veneu and Accommodation Coordinator. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled due to Covid19. Nonetheless, I was an integral part of the Online Africa Regional Meeting (OARM) and punctually partake in SCOPH SESSIONS, where I had the opportunity to learn and interact with other NMOs availing me vast knowledge in areas and matters that are critical for the association’s improvement. I’m confident that with the current structures and everything we have in place, we are capable and sure to host the event in the near future. Over the years, I’ve been at the forefront of advocacy, fighting for child rights, human rights, building capacities and sensitizing my peers and young people in general on education, leadership, ethics, self-awareness and going through life in general. My passion to serve and leadership credentials dates back to secondary school when at St. Joseph’s I was appointed as a school prefect from JSS level and for SSS level I happened to be the first Senior Prefect and Head of News Journal. The pursuit of excellence, putting in the required work and going the extra mile has been the norm since my formative years, reflective on my exemplary performances at school and extra curricular activities. My experience in, and early exposure to, public engagement, communication and the media - tv, radio, press briefings, debates, hosting, MC, etc. will be a valuable asset on this role. I’ve played crucial roles in the formation and/or development of youth advocacy and empowerment organizations that have created massive impact and transformational change to date, such as: Youth and Child Advocacy Network (YACAN); Children’s Forum Network (CFN); Child Awareness Foundation (CAF); Voice of Children (VOC); Teen Talk; Frenzy network Sierra Leone (FNSL); Science Resources Africa (SRA); etc. I desire to bring to the fore and harness such management (operations and finance) and organizational skills for the growth and improvement of our association. We are at our best when we engage in the things we are passionate about, that in which we are confident we’ll bring about optimal impact and transformational change in our communities and society at large. Given my track record, experience, and commitment to the association thus far, I believe I’m a destined candidate for this role. I’ve demonstrated the required passion, competence, and desire to put any and all financial management struggles of the association behind our backs and make efficient, sustainable and resilient implementation and management the new norm. At this juncture, let me use this opportunity and platform to humbly make my intention to serve as the treasurer for this association known to you all. It is upon deep personal reflection that I’ve decided to take this task as my natural responsibility. PLAN OF ACTION When you do the things in the present that you can see, you are shaping the future that you are yet to see. I have lined up plans to make the association better for us and our younger ones coming. I’m calling on everyone to join me on this smooth journey and make history.
GENERAL FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT • Oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements. • Liaise with the executive about financial matters. • Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place • Ensure that record-keeping and accounts meet the conditions of the SLEMSA constitution. •Ensure compliance with relevant legislation. • Ensure use of funds complies with conditions set by the association. • Ensure effective monitoring and reporting • Prepare and present budgets for new and ongoing work. • Advise on financial implications of strategic and operational plans • Present revised financial forecasts based on actual spend.
FINANCIAL STABILITY Financial stability is defined as the ability of the financial system to facilitate and enhance economic processes, manage risks, and absorb shocks. Moreover, financial stability is considered a continuum, changeable over time and consistent with multiple combinations of finance's constituent elements. • Appointment of Class ambassadors for yearly dues. • Yearly dues cards for easy record keeping and reminders for each SLEMSIANS . Printing of T.shirt and hand bands to be sold at a reasonable cost. (First 3 months of office)
COMPENSATION •First Le 20,000 payment A SLEMSIAN will be entitled
to stickers.
• First Le 40,000 payment A SLEMSIAN will be entitled to stickers and a Pen. • First Le 60,000 payment A SLEMSIAN will be entitled to Stickers, a pen and hand band.

EVENTS Depending on our academic calendar and the state of the country: MEDI-CONNECT A kind of festival that will promote medical students who are entrepreneurs, arts and poetry, dance, music. A time to interact with junior and senior students in the association.
