Project Summary

In the days of the Sinhala kings having a royal jester at the Court was a tradition. The job of this royal jester entertained and make them laugh. Among the royal jesters Sri Lankan kings had, the most famous and wellknown jester was Andare, who is a living legend among Sri Lankans even today, And some suggests that Andare was an imaginary character created by intellects who geared at pointing out the lack of intelligence and vanity of society through the stories.

In this project we were given the task to research into the background and history relevant to Andare. Then interpreting information and facts gathered through analysis to derive a concept to represent the interpretation of the character in 2D and 3D. We were expected to use color, texture, and material effectively to communicate observable qualities.

This Project allowed us to analyze and understand a character, to arrive at a concept and represent it through design.

Project summary

Bedroom is our very own personal space that we feel comfortable in. therefore, it must be designed in a way that fits the occupant and their way of life.

The task given in this project was to re design our very own bedroom not only to fit our lifestyle but to also suit our anthropometric measurements.

Here being the client and the architect themselves I could easily understand my character to arrive at an concept.

The room that once looked like any other ordinary bedroom is now designed to very specifically fit the clients taste. This not only brings out the character in the room but also reflects the character of the occupant herself.

Project summary

Camping is a recreational outdoor activity which involves overnight stays away from home in a shelter. This project is about designing a portable camping kitchen which will enable to prepare a meal for two persons, who are camping partners.

In this project we had to imagine that we are going on a camping trip with one of our friends. While the friend was in charge for providing shelter and drinking water and will carry the camping gear and water for you two. We were given the responsibility of cooking one meal for you two.

our task was to create a multi use portable backpack that can be used for cooking activities when laid down and can be easily carried as a backpack when hiking. This project mainly focused on the anthropometric and ergonomic measurements relative to humans. We learned and gained experience to pay attention to comfort and proper habits while design the portable camping kitchen

Project summary

An artist is a creative person who spends time to express their creativity through different media.

In this project we were expected to design a small freestanding building which is a studio and Bedsitter for a creative artist of our choice at a selected site. This studio should mainly respond to both the character of the artist and the art form. However the specific features and patterns of the immediate context in which it will be built were also to be considered when designing.

We were given the task to interview and analyze the artist, their work type, work space and their character.

The site that is selected for the artist was not to be less than 10m by 15m in area since you need to fit in a 50sqm studio building in this site.

This project helped u understand the user and design for a specific user, providing architecture that will reflect their character while facilitating the best atmosphere and required space to perform the art form.

Project summary

A house is building where people live in and conduct their private lives. It is a place to dwell, and to feel at home. The architecture and expression of what a house is has changed dramatically with time, and will also change based on the owner, site, and climate. The culture of the society and social strata will also have a profound effect on how a house is arranged in terms of space. In this project, we were expected to design a personalized house which can become a home for a selected family at a given specific site.

First and foremost, we had to interview our client and understand the client’s background, attitudes, and requirements. The design, or the brief based on your discussions with the client will be developed.

Maximum size of the house we were supposed to design should not exceed 300sqm in area, and the house had be a single unit with maximum 3 bedrooms. We also had to visit the assigned site to understand the site conditions in terms of its setting, topography, and nature.

After the discussion with the client and analyzing the site we could easily come up with the concept that would be vital for the entire designing process.
