Winter has come - and it's intense! After close to a life-time living on the Gold Coast, I've never felt the cold so keenly as this year - a great opportunity to break out the boots, coats and other winter woollies as well as the heater that is placed under my office desk day and night at the moment.

Thankfully, Winter in our region is typically a season of sunshine and clear skies, meaning we're able to get out and keep active, enjoy socialising and sight-seeing, dining with a view, taking to the water - all the reasons we choose to live here.

Our cover this issue is Natalie Portman in her role as Jane Foster, Astrophysicist and Thor's troubled ex in the next instalment of the Marvel movie, "Thor: Love and Thunder", which promises to be another blockbuster. Natalie breaks the mold of the Hollywood star, placing equal importance on family, education and maintaining friendships from university years as the means of keeping it real.

SADI Procedure

The SADI procedure (Sleeve Gastrectomy plus Duodeno- Ileostomy) involves a sleeve gastrectomy with bypass of part of the small intestine. The weight-loss and resolution of medical disorders is much more than a sleeve gastrectomy alone. This procedure is preferred over Gastric Bypass as it avoids many of the long-term problems some patients with gastric bypass experience.
