2. Buyer pays Slotin Folk Art Auction (“Slotin”) premium of Twenty-five percent (25%) of the Lot’s Hammer price. (As used throughout these “Terms and Conditions,” “Lot” means an object or group of objects offered for sale as one unit and “Hammer Price,” means the price announced by the auctioneer when the hammer falls.) The Buyer’s Premium shall be collected by Slotin directly from the Buyer at the time of sale.

3. Slotin will accept cash, checks and credit cards. (The “Sales Price” is the Hammer Price plus the Buyer’s Premium, plus applicable taxes). Any returned check will result in a return check fee and entitle Slotin to the remedies provided under Georgia law and in paragraph 7, below.

4. Title to Lot and risk of loss or damage to the Lot passes to the Buyer when the Hammer falls (i.e. when Slotin, as agent for seller, accepts the bid). Slotin Auction shall have no liability for any damage to property left on its premises after the date of sale. The Sales Price must be paid prior to the close of the auction. Buyers with an outstanding balance after 14 days of the close of the auction will be charged a ten percent (10%) late fee on the Sales Price. Buyers must provide a credit card number in order to bid. Buyers with an outstanding balance after 14 days will be charged the outstanding balance, including (10%) late fee and (4%) credit card fee to their credit card. Slotin will have sole and absolute discretion to determine who the successful bidder is and/or may withdraw the Lot or reoffer the Lot for sale, in the event of a dispute.

5. Invoices will include shipping prices for most items. If an item is listed as “Buyer Responsible for Shipping,” we suggest you contact one of shippers we have listed or we are happy to work with anyone you prefer.

6. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD “AS IS.” Slotin, for itself and as agent for the seller, makes no warranties or representations of any kind with respect to any Lot. Buyer agrees that in no event shall Slotin be responsible for the correctness, description, genuineness, authorship, attribution, provenance, period, culture, source, origin, value or condition of any Lot. Nothing being said or done by Slotin shall be deemed a warranty of representation or an assumption of liability by Slotin.

7. If Buyer fails to pay the Sales Price at the close of the auction or otherwise comply with these Terms and Conditions, Slotin shall be entitled to the following remedies: (1) to recover from Buyer any monetary loss arising on any resale of the Lot (including all costs of any resale or attempted resale); (2) any deposit or partial payment paid by Buyer: (3) to recover from Buyer all of its costs and expenses of collection, including attorneys’ fees of fifteen percent (15%) of the outstanding balance, interest on the outstanding balance of 1.5% per month and costs; and (4) all other relief and remedies allowed by the law. Georgia law applies and jurisdiction and venue over all disputes involving these Terms and Conditions shall be in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

8. Bidding on any Lot is acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and any and all other terms announced at the time of sale. These Conditions constitute the entire agreement between bidders and Slotin and supersede all prior agreements between them, if any.

Ralph Greenleaf (1899 -1950) was an American professional pool and billiards player, a twenty-time World Pocket Billiards Champion, whose ability and charisma dominated the sport during his heyday.

The works on the following pages

by Aureliano Lorenzo, depicting famous pool players of the day were on display in Greenleaf’s Pool Room in Richmond, VA until it’s closing this year.

Familia Lorenzo - Lucas Lorenzo and his children Santiago, Jesus, Nicolas, Aureliano and Carlota, along with many grandchildren, live and work in the remote craft village of Xalitla, in the state of Guerrero. They started out painting scenes, mostly of the landscape and village life of Guerrero. Later they began to paint larger naive figures of saints, devils, angels, religious figures, traditional Nahuatl masked dances, masked luchador wrestlers, Zapatista guerillas, calaveras for dia de los muertos, images from the loteria game and, of course, Frida Kahlo. In 2016 the Mexican Secretaria de Cultura published a full-color book illustrated with their paintings, Familia Lorenzo (see cover photo on left).

Paradise Garden Fundraiser 2 Sections Lots 28-43 & 421-451

Paradise Garden, a historic art environment created by the most famous 20th century contemporary self-taught/folk artist, Rev. Howard Finster. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Paradise Garden is located in the small rural town of Summerville, Georgia, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The 4-acre historic art environment is filled with art structures including concrete grotto walls, 200+ ft of mosaic sidewalks, a 50+ year old mosaic garden with raised beds, a 300 ft outdoor art gallery, and 18 separate art structures and buildings, all created by Rev. Howard Finster. CNN called it, “The Souths most inspired garden.” Paradise Garden is one of the top 10 art environments in the world and is open to the public 6 days a week, 12 months a year.

Over 43,000 patrons have visited Paradise Garden from 33 counties since the Garden was purchased by Chattooga County in 2012. Today, it serves as a nonprofit regional rural art center and one of two major economic drivers for the impoverished and economically depressed Appalachian region of Georgia. Programming includes an art museum and visitors center, year-round tours, children art camps and workshops, adult art classes, art exhibitions, 16 music performances, art conservation, historic restoration and a two-day NEA sponsored nationally recognized folk art festival benefiting 100+ local and regional visual artists, musicians, authors and spoken word.

Paradise Garden is operated by a nonprofit working Board of Directors, Paradise Garden Foundation, and receives no county funding. 401. Anonymous Wool Cross Medallion Quilt. c. 1870. Heavy-weight. Bars and squared work to form this quilt constructed primarily of wool and homespun blankets. One square is linsey Woolsey.

Red wood squares and small wool shards make up a center red cross which includes naive embroidered letters. The red center medallion could possibly be symbolic of the crossroads code as found in Underground Railroad quilts or the red squares could be an indication of the protective Mojo charm found in many early African American quilts. Good condition.
