The Fall 2014-­‐2015 ISCM Program Starts With 32 Students

The Fall 2014 Integrated Supply Chain Management Certificate Program started on August 21, 2014 with 32 students from 7 organizations including US TRANSCOM, U.S. AIR FORCE. Ameren, Monsanto, Novus International, Unisys and World Wide technology. The program started with SCM101 and Financial Performance of SCM. This program runs through December ending with team project presentation and graduation ceremony on December 12, 2014.

Each two-­‐day module offered monthly covers Project Management, e-­‐Beer Game Simulation (August 22) Managing Inventories for Increased Profitability (September25 and 26), Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship management (October 23 and 2

24), Managing Transportation & Warehousing (November 20 and 21). In addition, students have to take two-­‐day equivalent elective courses from with a number of course options such as S&OP, Risk Management (Distance Learning), Business Analytics, Reducing Supply Chain Variability, Supply Chain Trade Compliance and Change Management (Distance Learning) and others. Subject: Supply Chain Trade Compliance Date: September 11-­‐12, 2014 Instructor: Mr. Mark Baxa Brief Description: International trade is the exchange of capital, goods, and services across international borders or territories. In most countries, such trade represents a significant share of gross domestic product (GDP). Expanded international trade has economic, social, and political importance.

Trade compliance and conformance with international law has become more complex.

Subject: Managing Inventory for Increased Profitability Date: September 25 and 26, 2014 Instructor: Mr. Ray Scott Brief Description: Inventory management is a science primarily about specifying the shape and percentage of stocked goods. It is required at different locations within a facility or within many locations of a supply network to precede the regular and planned course of production and stock of materials.

Management of the inventories, with the primary objective of determining/controlling stock levels within the physical distribution system, functions to balance the need for product availability against the need for minimizing stock holding and handling costs.

Subject: Advanced Product Safety Program Date: Sept. 22 – Sept. 26, 2014 Instructors: Multiple Professionals Brief Description: A week-­‐long executive style management course for product safety managers and engineers with five years or more experience, this course deals with how to manage in a constantly changing domestic and international environment.

Topics include managing compliance and regulatory responsibilities, risk assessment and hazard analysis best practices, managing an international program and supply chain infrastructure, measuring company performance in sustainability and product safety practices, social media strategies and brand protection, and economic and data management.

3PLs Finding Balance, Hitting Service Goals

According to Evan Armstrong, president of 3PL consulting firm Armstrong and Associates, U.S. 3PL gross revenue in 2013 saw annual gains, up 3.2 percent over 2012 at $146.4 billion. He says that while global trade and economic activity serve as the "ultimate drivers" of market growth, the maturity of competitive service offerings and the size of major players are contributing to slower growth rates.

Pharmaceutical supply chains: The riskiest business supply chain

All supply chains entail a certain degree of risk. But none faces a more daunting challenge than the business of pharmaceuticals. Pharma supply chain managers must cope with four distinct threats: Intentional adulteration of product, the theft of popular drugs for illicit or unintended use, counterfeiting of branded items and diversion to unauthorized markets. As if that weren’t enough, the industry is grappling with a pair of new regulations that intensify scrutiny of product moving throughout the chain.
