Followers of Christ, Spreading God’s Love

Happy New Year and welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Monday our country remembers the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. You are encouraged to seek ways to spread understanding, compassion, and justice throughout our community and our world. Saint Michael and All Angels will be closed Monday in observance of the national holiday. Thank you for worshiping with us today. Rector Search and Transition Committee Status Report. The Rector Search and Transition Committee issued our Parish Profile shortly before Advent, based on the Parish Survey and several Town Hall Meetings. It is available online at www.saintmichael.org/profile. The committee is excited by the range of impressive priests across the Church who are interested in leading our church. As is customary, the Committee must keep confidential the names of priests entering into discernment with us to be our next Rector, but rest assured God has a wonderful next Rector in mind for us! Jubilee Sunday: Celebrating Cultures. We will celebrate the cultures of the Jubilee Park community on Sunday, January 31. About 200 of our neighbors from Jubilee Park will join us at 11:00 in the church, bringing their rich African American and Hispanic cultures to our worship. Following the service, we will welcome our Jubilee friends to our Chili and Gumbo cook-off in Parish Hall. Women Of Saint Michael Luncheon Features Jessica Heer. Jessica Heer, Vice President of Economic Develop at the Dallas Regional Chamber, will address the Women of Saint Michael on Wednesday, January 20. Ms. Heer leads the chamber’s corporate recruitment efforts to attract companies to locate in the region. The luncheon begins at 11:30 in the Parish Hall. Tickets to all of the Women’s programs are available online at www.saintmichael.org/wosmluncheons. Let the Good Times Roll: Mardi Gras Party Set for February 6. Get the glad-rags out for another fun Mardi Gras party, sponsored by the Women of Saint Michael, on Saturday, February 6 at the Park City Club. There will be plenty of Cajun food, a rockin’ band, and spirits. Get tickets online at www.saintmichael.org/mardigras.

$600,000 Stewardship Challenge Our 2016 Stewardship Campaign needs to raise $600,000 by February 1st to maintain the church’s current programs and staffing. Last year, we pledged a total of $5.2 million. Today, our pledges for 2016 are at $4.6 million. The needed $600,000 will only let us maintain the status quo. If you have not pledged, please do so now. If you have pledged, please consider an increase or an additional onetime gift to sustain Saint Michael and All Angels. If you have questions, contact Mary Kardell, Director of Giving, at mkardell@saintmichael.org.
