Following the Maundy Thursday worship service in the Church, the Blessed Sacrament is processed to the place of reposition in the Bishop Moore Chapel, where parishioners keep watch in prayer throughout the night. You’re invited to sign up for an hour of prayer. Sign up online at www.saintmichael. org/event/overnight-vigil or on the board in the South Lanai. Brighten Easter for Saint Michael’s Homebound. The Easter Altar flowers are delivered after the worship services to parishioners in the hospital or homebound. Hunter Ruffin to Start New Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. The Rev. Hunter Ruffin has been called to start a new church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. His last Sunday at Saint Michael is May 7. A celebration of his ministry will be Sunday, April 30. If you wish to contribute to a purse for Hunter, send a check to Saint Michael marked Rev. Ruffin Purse. (Read the Rector’s announcement and Rev. Ruffin’s letter at www.saintmichael.org.) The Knitting Ministry Needs Your Needles. The Knitting Ministry is knitting 100 scarves and hats to be given at the Seniors Christmas Luncheon in Jubilee Park. Knitters are needed to finish a scarf or hat a month to meet the goal. You can knit at the weekly Tuesday afternoon meeting from 1:00 to 3:00 in the Drake Room, or at home. For information, contact Byrd Teague, byrd.teague@gmail.com. Refresh + Renew + Revive Surpasses Goal. The initiative to Refresh + Renew + Revive our worship spaces has met and surpassed it’s goal of $600,000! More than $750,000 has been raised to restore and repair the “Creation Window,” enhance lighting and audio/visual capabilities, provide new pew cushions, kneelers, hymnals and prayer books in the church; and provide staging, lighting, enhanced sound and video for the Celebration Service in Parish Hall. Two Easter Egg Hunts Planned Saturday, April 15. There will be Two Easter Eggs hunts for the kids next Saturday, April 15. The first at 10:00 a.m. is for children in the second grade and younger and will be on the Saint Michael Episcopal School playground. The second will be a “Glow in the Dark” hunt at 7:30 p.m. for the 3rd – 5th graders on the ESD field. Saint Michael Youth Service Projects. Saint Michael’s youth will be involved in community projects in the coming weeks. Next Saturday, April 15, there will be a Family Morning of Service at the Dallas Animal Shelter. The kids and parents will meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. to drive to the shelter where they will work from 10:00 to 11:30. On Wednesday, April 19 at LiveWIRE the youth will help clean up and prepare an apartment for new tenants for the Interfaith Housing Coalition. Both the Rector and the Vicar will receive their Doctor of Ministry degrees this spring. Chris Girata will receive his doctorate in Christian Leadership from Duke University on May 14. Bill Murray’s thesis, “Our Sacrifice of Praise and Thanksgiving: Rene Girard and the Eucharist,” has been accepted and he will receive his doctorate from the University of the South – Sewanee on May 12. Congratulations to both!


Easter Offerings Reach Out to Help Neighbors All of our Easter Offerings will go to ministries reaching out to neighbors. They will be divided equally between: • Jubilee Park and Community Center – a catalyst for community renewal • Kaleidoscope Institute - creating sustainable churches and communities • Episcopal Migration Ministries - the Church’s refugee resettlement program Faith

Grief Luncheon: April 13. The leader of the Faith and Grief Ministry at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, Susan McDaniel, will be the speaker at the Thursday, April 13, luncheon begining at 12:00 in the Coke Activities Room. PT Cruisers to Bloom in April. The PT Cruisers travel to the Dallas Arboretum on Thursday, April 20th to enjoy Mother Nature at her finest. The bus leaves the church at 9:30. Cost of admission is $10 plus lunch "on your own" at the Highland Park Cafeteria. The deadline for reservations is Sunday, April 16. Call Bonita Frederick at 214-728-6440 to make reservations. Prayer Painting on April 20. Painting will be the focus of the Prayer Ministry meeting on Thursday, April 20. Melissa D’Antoni, accompanied by Mary Jane Fally on piano, will present “Praying with Paint: Painting as a Spiritual Process.” The meeting begins at 6:00 in the Coke Activities Room with a light dinner ($10). The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market will open its 6th season Saturday, April 29 in the church’s north parking lot. More than 30 vendors have committed to this year’s market, including more than a dozen new vendors. A complete list can be found on the Farmers Market website, saintmichaelsmarket. com. The market will be open Saturday mornings from 8:00 – 12:00 Noon. Address Women of Saint Michael Spring Luncheon May 9. The Rev. Chip Edens, former Vice Rector at Saint Michael, will be the featured speaker at the Women of Saint Michael Spring Luncheon on Tuesday, May 9. His theme, “Soul Purpose,” will inspire and challenge the women to live their lives with faith, hope, and love. Currently Chip is Rector of Christ Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the luncheon the women will get results of the Parish Party and the Gifts Committee’s distribution of funds to area charities and Episcopal ministries. Three Week Series Organizing for Heaven Begins April 30. Organizing for Heaven, a three week series on planning for the end of life, will begin Sunday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the Parlor. The series developed by Pastoral Care will start with a session led by Bennett Cullum and Robin Robinson discussing how to protect yourself legally and medically, and how you can easily include gifts to Saint Michael in your will.
