The Faith and Literature books being reviewed are available in the Saint Michael Book Shop. dioceSe hoSting evangeliSM conFerence next Saturday. “Sharing our Faith: Evangelism for Everyday” is the subject of a conference sponsored by the Diocese of Dallas next Saturday, June 11. It will be led by Grant Skeldon of The Initiative Network and Canon J. John, advisor to the Archbishop of Canterbury on Evangelism. The conference will be from 9:00 to 12-Noon at Church of the Incarnation. Register online at www.edod.org.

Grief Book at Reception next Sunday. Faith & Grief Ministries is hosting a meet the authors reception next Sunday, June 12, at 4:30 in the Coke Activities Room. Heather Wallace and Stuart Rubio will share portions of their book, Faith, Grief, and Pass the Chocolate Pudding along with refreshments and chocolates. Vacation Bible School to Help Children with Cancer Support Their Efforts This year’s Vacation Bible School at Saint Michael will reach out to children in our community suffering from cancer. Organized in memory of 7 year old parishioner Michael Malone, the 300 VBS kids are asked to bring a toy for the children undergoing treatment at Children’s Health Hospital in Dallas. You can give, too! Beginning next Sunday, June 12, a toy-donation box will be outside the Saint Michael Chapel to accept gifts from parishioners, as well as the Vacation Bible School kids. On Friday afternoon, June 17, the toys will be delivered to Children’s Health Dallas for its prize closet. After treatment the children patients are rewarded with a trip to the prize closet.

Youth Mission Trip Leaves for Cuba on Tuesday.

Eight Saint Michael high school students will leave Tuesday for a mission trip to Cuba. The trip will be led by The Revs. Hunter Ruffin and Oliver Butler, and Youth Director Lauren Wainwright. In Cuba they will do work at the San Bernabe Episcopal Church and participate in the consecration of the church’s new parish building, which was funded in part by Saint Michael and All Angels. The missioners will be accompanied by parishioners Erica Sartain and Geoff Newton who will be translating for the group.

Large Print Book of Common Prayer Available.

Copies of the Book of Common Prayer with large print are available for use during worship services.

They can be borrowed from the South Lanai receptionist and returned following the service.

Volunteers needed for South Lanai Receptionist Desk. A volunteer is needed each day to provide lunch relief for the receptionist.

Duties are to answer phones and greet visitors. Please contact Kimberly Hughes Robinson at 214-365-3504 to volunteer or if you have questions.

We Need Your Pie! The June 26 reception in the Garden Cloister will feature pies of all varieties as part of our Celebrate America festivities. We need you to bake your favorite pie – apple, cherry, peach, peanut butter, etc. – and share it at the party. If you can bake (or buy) a pie, contact Tish at tvisinsky@ saintmichael.org.

Farmer’s Market Attracts Top Vendors with More Offerings. The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market continues to attract the top local vendors offering some of the area’s best produce, meat and eggs, and homemade food products every Saturday morning. There’s always a new recipe using the market’s products. The market also collects shoes for The Shoe Bank and men’s clothing for One Man’s Treasure. The market is open Saturday from 8:00 to 12:00 Noon in the north parking lot.

Fabric Donations Overwhelm Honduras Threads. Parishioner's donations of fabric for the Honduras Threads Mission trip has been overwhelming. The gifted material filled the back of two SUVs and weighed “hundreds of pounds.” The fabric will be given to the ladies in the village sewing co-ops for use in their designs and products, which are available in the Saint Michael Book Shop. The Honduras Threads mission trip leaves June 12.

Frances Tompkins Becomes Directress of Altar Guild. Frances Tompkins took over leadership of the Saint Michael Altar Guild following the group’s annual dinner last month. Her captains and co-captains are : Susan Boldrick and Sue Sibley, Gail Clark and Chris Anderson, Nancy Duncan and Terese Finitzo, Diane Grant and Molla Ladd, Laura Noe and Kathleen Wallace. Outgoing directress Angie Howell was presented the speciallydesigned Directress Cross by Interim Rector Doug Travis.

New Officers Assume Leadership of Women of Saint Michael. Following the Annual Spring Luncheon, the new officers of the Women of Saint Michael, led by president Squeaky Connolly, were installed.
