Followers of Christ, Spreading God’s Love
Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. It may be summer, but there’s a lot going on this week. Vacation Bible School starts tomorrow. If you’re at the church during the week be on the lookout for a lot of little people (and grownups too). The youth mission trip to Cuba has returned, and the Honduras Threads mission trip is leaving. Give thanks for both of these groups. Be sure to worship with us often this summer…and every season. It’s good for your soul. Meet the Authors of Faith and Grief Book at Reception Today. Faith & Grief Ministries is hosting a Meetthe-Authors reception this afternoon at 4:30 in the Coke Activities Room. Heather Wallace and Stuart Rubio will share portions of their book, Faith, Grief, and Pass the Chocolate Pudding along with refreshments and chocolates. Books will be available for sale or online at www.passthechocolatepudding.com. Faith and Literature Review Available Online. Today’s review by The Rev. Greg Pickens of the book Aha! The God Moment that Changes Everything will be available online by Noon Tuesday, June 14. Each Faith and Literature review will be video recorded and put on the church website at www.saintmichael.org/faithandlit. Next week, Hunter Ruffin will review The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis. The Faith and Literature books being reviewed are available in the Saint Michael Book Shop. Farmers Market Provides Eclectic Variety of Products. The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market attracts one of the most eclectic group of vendors providing scrumptious food ranging from Mexican specialty breads, to glutenfree meals, to Italian delicacies, to tamales, to meat and eggs, and of course the freshest off-the-vine fruits, vegetables, and produce every Saturday morning. And, there’s always a new recipe using the market’s products. The market also collects shoes for The Shoe Bank and men’s clothing for One Man’s Treasure. The market is open Saturday’s from 8:00 to 12:00 Noon in the north parking lot. Vacation Bible School to Help Children with Cancer Support Their Efforts This year’s Vacation Bible School at Saint Michael will reach out to children in our community living with cancer. Organized in memory of 7 year old parishioner Michael Malone, the 300 VBS kids will bring a toy for the children undergoing treatment at Children’s Health Hospital in Dallas. You can give, too! Beginning today through Thursday, a toy-donation box will be outside the Saint Michael Chapel to accept gifts from parishioners, as well as the Vacation Bible School kids. On Friday afternoon the toys will be delivered to Children’s Health Dallas for its prize closet. After treatment the patients are rewarded with a trip to the prize closet.
