Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. What a momentous week! We have a new Rector, The Rev. Chris Girata, who will join us in August. We received good news that Doug Travis, our Interim Rector, is recovering from his automobile accident and will return to the office this week, and our youth returned from a most successful mission trip to Cuba. This is a most blessed parish! Give thanks to God, and thank you for worshiping with us today.
Happy Fathers’ Day. Faith and Literature Review Available Online. Today’s review by The Rev. Hunter Ruffin on The Great Divorce will be available online by Noon Tuesday, June 21. Each Faith and Literature review will be video recorded and put on the church website at www.saintmichael.org/faithandlit. Next week, we take a break to celebrate the Independence Day holiday week with pie in the Garden Cloister. On July 3, Greg Pickens will review Augustine to Freud. The Faith and Literature books are available in the Saint Michael Book Shop. Take Saint Michael Along on Your Summer Trip. Wherever you go this summer, you can take Saint Michael with you, the 11:11 Celebration worship service will be streamed at www.saintmichael.org/live. Care Givers Meeting Rescheduled. The Care Givers Support Group will not meet July 4. July’s meetings have been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 5, and Monday, July 18, at 11:00 in the parlor. We provide support for those who have the responsibility of caring for a loved one. Contact: Sandra Klingeman, jsklingeman@sbcglobal.net. Women’s Cancer Support Cancels Meeting on Holiday. The Women’s Cancer Support group will not meet on Monday, July 4. Their meeting will resume July 11 and every Monday at 1:45, in the Parlor to offer support to those who have or who are recovering from the disease. Have a piece (or two) of your favorite pie and meet our new Youth Director Lauren Wainwright on Sunday, June 26. The Garden Cloister will be packed with more than 40 pies of nearly every flavor, and Lauren, just back from the mission trip to Cuba, will be there to meet you. The celebration starts at 9:30.

Moms’ of 2 and 3 Year Olds…Need an Afternoon Off? The Saint Michael Episcopal School has the perfect opportunity for Moms of 2 and 3 year olds to get Wednesday afternoons free for fun or personal business. On Wednesdays during June and July (except the 4th of July week), your child can “stay and play” at Saint Michael from 12:00 to 4:00. The cost is just $45 per day. Copies of the Book of Common Prayer with large print are available for use during worship services. They can be borrowed from the South Lanai receptionist and returned following the service. Wear Your Nametag! There is no way we can know every parishioner, and there’s no way our clergy can remember everyone’s name. Wear your name tag! It’s more welcoming and more considerate to one another. (If you need a new nametag, ask the receptionist at the South Lanai.)

Our Interim Rector Doug Travis was in an automobile accident earlier this month in which he suffered a back injury. He is at home healing and anticipates returning to the office this week. He expects a full recovery. Doug sends his grateful appreciation for your prayers and concern. “Keep them coming,” he says. Faith and Grief Luncheon Scheduled July 14. Beverly Patrick will be the guest speaker at the July 14 Faith and Grief Luncheon beginning at 12:00 Noon in the Coke Activities Room. It is an opportunity to listen as others recount how their faith intersected with grief. The lunch is free but your donation is welcome. Farmers Market Provides Eclectic Variety of Products The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market attracts one of the most eclectic group of vendors providing scrumptious food ranging from Mexican specialty breads, to gluten-free meals, to Italian delicacies, to tamales, to meat and eggs, and of course the freshest off-the-vine fruits, vegetables, and produce every Saturday morning. Next Saturday the firemen at Douglas and Northwest Highway will bring their fire truck for the kids (both small and big) to see and climb onboard. Don’t forget, the market also collects shoes for The Shoe Bank and men’s clothing for One Man’s Treasure. The market is open Saturday’s from 8:00 to 12:00 Noon in the north parking lot.
