Followers of Christ, Spreading God’s Love

Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Today is a special day in the life of our church. This morning The Rev. Hunter Ruffin will celebrate his first Holy Communion, following his ordination to the priesthood yesterday morning. To make this day even more special we are baptizing our newest members at the 10:00 worship service. You’ve picked a great day to worship with us. Thank You! Family Summer Sunday School Starts Today. Today and next Sunday, July 19, will be Family Summer Sunday School days in the Youth Center at 11:00. Mom, Dads, and all the kids are urged to participate. There will be a light breakfast/brunch, a lot of fellowship, and a short, fun, uplifting activity for the entire family. High School Mission Trip Leaves for Oregon. Our high school kids left Saturday on their mission trip to Oregon. The group is staying at the Fr. Bernard Youth Center at Mount Abbey, a Benedictine monastery, seminary, and retreat near Salem. During their mission, the students will participate in a beach cleanup project with SOLVE, an environmental restoration organization, and work with the Sunshine Division in Portland, which provides food and clothing assistance. Keep them in your prayers this week. Pray for the Rector Search and Transition. The Rector Search and Transition team has developed a prayer to guide them during their task of recommending a new rector for Saint Michael and All Angels, and parishioners are asked to support the committee’s efforts through prayer. The prayer can be found online at www.saintmichael.org, in the July Archangel, and throughout the church. There is a prayer station in the Bishop Moore Chapel where parishioners are urged to offer their own prayers. The search and transition team is interested in your thoughts and suggestions concerning selection of a new rector. Send your ideas and comments to rector.search@saintmichael.org. Faith and Literature Returns Today. Vicar, Bill Murray, reviews the book The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay today at 11:00 in the Faith and Literature class. The Pulitzer Prize winner is a story of comic books, superheroes, and real-world survival.
