Chris Girata will preach at the 9:00 and 11:00 worship John 1:43-46 services in the Church on Sunday, August 21. At the 9:00 service we will recognize The Very Rev. Doug Travis, who served as our Interim Rector for 8 months. Additionally, we will kick off the new school year by Blessing-the-Backpacks at every service, and enjoy a Welcome and Thanks reception to embrace the Girata and Travis families beginning at 9:30 in the Garden Cloister. Rector’s First Saint Michael Sermon to be Live-Streamed. The Rev. Chris Girata’s first sermon at Saint Michael and All Angels next Sunday will be live-streamed at 9:00. LiveWIRE starts on Wednesday, August 24th! Join Youth Ministry for LiveWIRE, our Wednesday night gatherings for middle school and high school students. Come to the Youth Center for food, fun, and fellowship. Middle School meets from 5:306:30, High School meets from 7:00-8:00. Dinner is offered for both groups for $5.00 from 6:30-7:00.

The Enneagram is a personality assessment tool that helps us to learn more about ourselves and how we are in relationship with God and the people most important to us. The Rev. The Baptismal prayer asks that we have an “inquiring and discerning heart” the courage to will and persevere, and a spirit to know and love God. Education for Ministry supports these through study, fellowship, and theological reflection bringing together tradition, scripture, reason, and experience. The class, created by the seminary at the Episcopal University of the South – Sewanee, meets in the Drake Room Tuesday evenings at 6:30 beginning August 30, with limited availability. Jubilee Park’s annual Back to After School Bash on Thursday, September 8 will get kids and their parents excited about the new school year. Saint Michael volunteers are needed to help with the activities at the Bash from 5:30 to 7:00. Mr. Donavan will motivate the kids, there will be food for the families, and school supplies will be distributed. Healthy snack donations such as granola bars, fruit and veggie chips are needed. The Fellowship/Book Study group, Women-Work-Word, has moved its meeting to the Chapel Conference Room. Mary Lessmann at mlessmann@saintmichael.org. Food 4 Kids Program Begins September 1. Food 4 Kids provides a weekend food pack for a child at critical risk for hunger. Dallas County has one of the highest childhood hunger rates in the nation. $5 a week, $20 a month, $200 for the school year, or $260 a year makes sure one school child has food for the weekend. Look for the Food 4 Kids table every Sunday beginning in September near the Book Store, or mail or deliver a check to Saint Michael and All Angels – Food 4 Kids. Christian Formation Sunday Mornings at 10:00 Leader of the Bolivia Amistad Mission to Speak Today. Chris King, the executive director of the Amistad Mission in Bolivia, will speak to a combined Faith and Literature and Family Summer Sunday School class at 10:00 today in Saint Michael Chapel. Following will be a luncheon at 12:30 in the Coke Activities Room at which details of the upcoming mission trip to Bolivia and Amistad October 7 -15 will be discussed.
