Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Today is Sunday School Sunday with a full schedule of stimulating classes for all ages. A description of classes for adults to elementary school students is on the back page of this Sunday News or is found online at www.saintmichael.org. Sunday School class maps are at several locations throughout the church. The fall Formation Schedule is full of rich learning opportunities. Take advantage of them. Thanks for worshiping with us today. The Church offices will be closed Monday, September 5 for Labor Day. A New Era Begins – Pray for Saint Michael and All Angels. Our new Rector, The Rev. Christopher Girata, has arrived, and the next stage in our life together is beginning. As we enter this new era, pray for God’s grace to lead us as we transition to an even greater future for our church. Visit the prayer station in Bishop Moore Chapel and offer your prayers for our new Rector and our church. Sign the book and write a word of thanks for Saint Michael and All Angels. St. Mary’s Guild is Back in Business in the South Lanai. Have you been missing those Donuts, Rum Cake, or other Sunday morning snacks from the Saint Mary's Guild? They are back in business beginning today in the South Lanai. And, you can order cakes ahead of time. All proceeds go to two non-profit ministries: Hopeful Solutions and Family Outreach. Saint Michael’s Farmers Market is nearing the end of its 2016 summer season, one that has been among its best. Customers have averaged over 400 per Saturday, and the vendors have supplied one of the most diverse arrays of products ever. If you haven’t, check out the Farmers Market before it’s too late. It is open every Saturday morning from 8:00 to 12:00 Noon through September 17. The Journeys of St. Paul – A 2017 Cruise with the Rector. Saint Michael Rector Christopher Girata will lead a pilgrimage next year tracing the Journeys of St. Paul through Rome, Greece, Turkey, and Malta. The cruise, from June 5 – 18, will also visit several scenic destinations in the Mediterranean. Information brochures are at several locations throughout the church and there will be an information meeting Sunday, September 11 at 12:30 in the Coke Activities Room for those interested. Saint Michael 101 – Learn About Saint Michael Membership. Are you new to Saint Michael and thinking about joining? Do you have friends that should be members? Saint Michael 101 on September 18 at 6:00 is the place! It’s a lively, fun (free) dinner, where you get to know our church and what it’s all about. Sign up for yourself, or ask your friends to come. RSVP at www. saintmichael.org. Saint Michael Episcopal School Starts Wednesday. Teachers are in the full-prep mode for Wednesday’s opening of the Saint Michael Episcopal School. This year the school has expanded to include its first Kindergarten class. Tomorrow at 10:00 will be Meet the Teacher morning and tomorrow evening at 7:00 will be Parents Night. If you will be at the church during the week, be sure to be on the lookout for excited kids.

Ushers can direct you to private prayer locations. Prayer Candles A $1 donation is appreciated for lit candles in the Bishop Moore and Saint Michael Chapels.

Food 4 Kids Program Begins September 1. Food 4 Kids provides a weekend food pack for a child at critical risk for hunger. Dallas County has one of the highest childhood hunger rates in the nation. $5 a week, $20 a month, $200 for the school year, or $260 a year makes sure one school child has food for the weekend. Look for the Food 4 Kids table every Sunday beginning in September or send a check to Saint Michael and All Angels – Food 4 Kids. Make online donations at www.saintmichael.org/ food4kids.

Ministry (EfM) Starts Tuesday. Do you have an inquiring heart, the courage to persevere, and a spirit to know God? Education for Ministry is a course that through study, fellowship, and theological reflection brings together tradition, scripture, reason, and experience. The class, created by the University of the South – Sewanee, meets in the Drake Room Tuesday evenings at 6:30 beginning Tuesday, August 30. Enneagram – How We Relate to God and Neighbor. The Enneagram is a personality assessment tool that helps us to learn more about ourselves and how we are in relationship with God and people that are most important to us. The Rev. Mary Lessmann and Mary Ann Webster will facilitate the class beginning September 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Coke Activities Room. There’s no charge, but registration is necessary. Learn about the Episcopal Church or refresh your memory at the Adult Confirmation Preparation Classes beginning Wednesday, September 28. For those new to Saint Michael the course serves as preparation for confirmation into the Church. Led by The Reverends Bill Murray and Greg Pickens, the course meets on Wednesday evenings through November 2 at 6:30 in the Coke Activities Room with free dinner and childcare. Join Saint Michael’s Honduras Mission leaders Sunday, September 11 for an evening of song, prayer, and information about the February, 2017 trip to Tela, Honduras. Learn about the projects our missioners will be doing, the costs, and requirements of the trip. The meeting begins at 6:30 in the Coke Activities Room. October Amistad, Bolivia Mission Trip Sign-up Deadline Nears. The deadline for registering for the pilgrimage to the Amistad Mission in Bolivia is August 31. The Fellowship/Book Study group, Women-Work-Word, has moved its meeting to the Chapel Conference Room. Jubilee Park’s Back to After School Bash Needs Volunteers and Supplies. Volunteer for Jubilee Park’s annual Back to After School Bash on Thursday, September 8 as we get kids and parents excited about the new school year. Saint Michael volunteers are needed from 5:30 to 7:00. There will be food for the families and school supplies will be distributed.
