The kids are back in school, youth and adult sports programs are in full swing, and The State Fair is just around the corner. There are enumerable opportunities to serve at Saint Michael. Look through the September Archangel (online or hard copy) and find a place for you and your family. Thank you for worshiping with us today. The Church offices will be closed tomorrow, September 5 for Labor Day. Monday meetings are canceled and there will be no 7:00 a.m. Eucharist. Blow Your Horn – It’s a Boy! David Gabriel Musser is the newest member of Saint Michael’s clergy family. Gabriel was born to The Rev. Lisa Flores Musser and David Musser Thursday morning, September 1. He weighted 7lb 11oz. Gabriel, Lisa, and David are doing well. Keep them in your prayers. Rector to Launch Women of Saint Michael’s Luncheon Series. The Women of Saint Michael’s fall luncheon series kickoffs Wednesday, September 14 with Rector Chris Girata as the featured speaker. He will address “Empowering Women in Leadership.” The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in Parish Hall. Purchase season tickets or make a reservation for the luncheon on line at: www.saintmichael.org/wosmluncheons. The Journeys of St. Paul – A 2017 Cruise with the Rector. Saint Michael Rector Christopher Girata will lead a pilgrimage next year tracing the Journeys of St. Paul through Rome, Greece, Turkey, and Malta. There will be an information meeting Sunday, September 11 at 12:30 in the Coke Activities Room for those interested in participating. The cruise, from June 29 – July 12, will also visit several scenic destinations in the Mediterranean. There are information brochures at several locations throughout the church. Prayer Ministry to Meet with Bob Johnston. The September 15 meeting of the Prayer Ministry will feature Bob Johnston, Associate for Evangelism. Chef Jed Demler, chef/owner of Savoureaux Catering Company, will delight us with either salad or sandwiches for $10. Make reservations by Tuesday, September 13 with Katherine Bowen at kbowen@saintmichael.org. The meeting begins at 6:00 in the Coke Activities Room. Everyone is invited and welcome! Saint Michael 101 – Learn About Saint Michael Membership. Are you new to Saint Michael and are thinking about joining? Do you have friends that ought to be members? Saint Michael 101 on September 18 at 6:30 is the place to be! It’s a lively, fun (free) dinner, led by The Rev. Bob Johnston, where you get to know our church and what it’s all about. Girata as the 8th Rector of Saint Michael and All Angels on Saturday morning, September 24 at 11:00 in the Church. Former Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold will preach, Bishop George Sumner will celebrate the Eucharist, and festal music will be provided by the Saint Michael choir, organ, and orchestra. Communications Card Use the card to register as a guest, make prayer requests, RSVPs, and provide information on yourself. Need Prayer Prayer Teams can pray with you after Sunday morning services. Ushers can direct you to private prayer locations. Prayer Candles A $1 donation is appreciated for lit candles in the Bishop Moore and Saint Michael Chapels.

Learn about them online or in the September Archangel and join one. • Lay Eucharistic Visitors take communion to parishioners who are in the hospital or homebound. Join us on Wednesday September 28th at Bowlounge located at 167 Turtle Creek Blvd #103, for an evening of bowling. Middle School will meet from 5:30-7:00 and High School from 6:30-8:00. The cost is $25 and includes bowling, shoes, and dinner. We will meet at Bowlounge but if you need help with transportation contact Lauren. Sign up today at www.saintmichael.org/youth September is Food 4 Kids Month. Food 4 Kids provides a weekend food pack for a child at critical risk for hunger. Look for the Food 4 Kids table every Sunday this month. Dallas County has one of the highest childhood hunger rates in the nation. $5 a week, $20 a month, $200 for the school year, or $260 a year makes sure a child has food for the weekend. You can mail or deliver a check to Saint Michael and All Angels – Food 4 Kids. Make online donations at www.saintmichael.org/food4kids. Women’s Cancer Support Group is a long-term support system. Adult Confirmation Preparation Classes Begin September 28. Learn about the Episcopal Church or refresh your memory at the Adult Confirmation Preparation Classes beginning Wednesday, September 28. For those new to Saint Michael the course serves as preparation for confirmation into the Church. Led by The Reverends Bill Murray and Greg Pickens, the course meets on Wednesday evenings through November 2 at 6:30 in the Coke Activities Room with free dinner and childcare. To register contact Ann Mills at amills@saintmichael.org. Honduras Mission Information Meeting Planned September 11. Join Saint Michael’s Honduras Mission leaders Sunday, September 11 for an evening of song, prayer, and information about the February, 2017 trip to Tela, Honduras. Learn about the projects our missioners will be doing, the costs, and requirements of the trip. The meeting begins at 6:30 in the Coke Activities Room. Jubilee Park’s Back to After School Bash this Thursday. Jubilee Park’s annual Back to After School Bash is set for Thursday, September 8 as we get kids and parents excited about the new school year. Beginning at 5:30 school supplies will be distributed to the kids and there will be food for the families. You are invited to join the fun. PT Cruisers Hit the Bank in September. The PT Cruisers travel to the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Dallas for a free tour September 15. Think they will give out free samples? An “on your own” lunch at Sammy’s BBQ will follow the tour. The bus leaves the church on Thursday, September 15 at 9:30. Deadline for reservations is Sunday, September 11. Call Mary Davis at 214-363-7761 to reserve your spot. Faith and Grief Ministry Plans October Workshop. “Comfort and Hope for the Journey of Grief,” a six-week grief workshop, will be held at Saint Michael on Thursday evenings from October 6 to November 10. Led by Diane Pennington of the Faith and Grief organization, the workshop will meet from 6:00 – 8:00 in the Chapel Conference Room. There is no fee but registration is needed by September 30. The monthly Faith and Grief Luncheon will be Thursday, September 8 in the Coke Activities Room beginning at 12:00 Noon. Len Bourland’s new book, Normal’s Just a Cycle on a Washing Machine, is available in the Saint Michael Book Shop. It is Len’s first book with clever snapshots of life told with wit and honesty. You’ll love it. The Book Shop has resumed its normal hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10:00 to 3:00, Wednesday 9:00 to 3:00, Saturday 9:00 to 11:00, and Sunday 8:30 to 12:30. Vestry Member Elected to National Church Board. Elizabeth L. Selzer, a member of Saint Michael’s Vestry, has been elected to the national board of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS). She will represent the Diocese of Dallas as well as our church. TENS works with dioceses and churches throughout the country developing, training, and supporting stewardship and giving programs. St. Mary’s Guild is Back in Business in the South Lanai. Have you been missing those Donuts, Rum Cake, or other Sunday morning snacks from the St. Mary's Guild? They are back in business in the South Lanai. All proceeds go to Hopeful Solutions and Family Outreach. We are also looking for bake team members! Policemen from surrounding Police Departments will be honored at Saint Michael’s Farmers Market next Saturday, September 10. Police personnel and their families from Dallas, University Park, Highland Park, SMU, and DART will receive free ice cream and cake, special discounts from the vendors, and popsicles for the kids. The Farmers Market season will close Saturday, September 17. The market is open from 8:00 to 12:00 Noon.
