Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Today at 10:00 new Vestry members and Diocesan Convention delegates and alternates will be elected at the Parish Meeting in the Church. The Rector will update the parish on membership engagement, stewardship, the Vestry initiatives and more. Also, today is the fall blood drive, and Barnyard “Boo” Bash. As you can tell, Saint Michael is on the move. Be a part of the action. November 5 All Saints Sunday. Next Sunday is All Saints Sunday at which we will be praying for parishioners and loved ones who have died during the past year. The reading of the Necrology will begin 5 minutes before the regular worship times for the Saturday Candlelight Mass, 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. services in Saint Michael Chapel, the 11:00 Celebration in Parish Hall, and the 9:00 and 11:00 worship services in the Church. Incense will be used at the 11:00 a.m. Church service. Help Reach the 500,000 Goal of Hurricane Relief Meals. Saint Michael Parishioners are joining an interfaith fellowship this afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El to package Hurricane relief meals to complete our goal of making 500,000 meals. We have only 50,000 to go and we need your help. Temple Emanu-El is on Hillcrest at Northwest Highway. Hurricane Relief Mission Trips to Gulf Coast Planned. The victims of Hurricane Harvey are still suffering and need our help. Mission trips to Corpus Christi and surrounding areas are being planned for either November 10 – 12, or December 8 – 10 and will be hosted by the Diocese of Dallas and the Church of the Transfiguration. For information contact Colin Hills at chills@transfiguration.net. Eric Law Headlines Distinguished Lecture Series. Eric Law, an Episcopal priest, founder and executive director of the Kaleidoscope Institute, will be the Distinguished Lecturer Saturday, November 11. The Kaleidoscope Institute works to create inclusive and sustainable churches and communities. Law’s lecture from 9:00 – 12:00 will be in the Coke Activities Room. The cost is $10. Children’s Sunday School Stewardship Outreach Project. Spark and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (children age 4-3rd grade) are collecting winter clothing items that will be distributed at The Gathering, the outdoor downtown church for the homeless at Thanks-Giving Square. There are collection boxes in each Sunday School classroom to receive new hats, gloves, and scarves. Middle School Youth Collecting for Animal Shelter. As part of their Stewardship commitment, our middle school students are collecting supplies for the Dallas Animal Shelter. There is a donation basket in the Youth Center. Supplies needed include: cat beds, full-sized bath towels and fleece blankets, large dog toys, and treats. For more information email Chase Monson at cmonson@saintmichael.org. High School Youth Raising Money for Amistad Birthdays. Our high school youth are raising $2,000 to pay for birthday parties for approximately 80 children at the Amistad orphanage in Bolivia, which will include a cake and present. The cost is $25. Katherine Krause, President and CEO of the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) will speak at the November luncheon of the Women of Saint Michael Wednesday, November 8. She will talk about the “Common Misconceptions About Hospice” in a frank, open discussion about end of life care. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in Parish Hall. The Women of Saint Michael Gifts Committee is accepting applications for 2018 grants. The funds are available to nonprofit agencies serving the critical needs of residents primarily in the Dallas area. This year the Women’s grants totaled $237,000. Our 6 – 12 graders will go to Anchorage, Alaska from July 18 - 25 to work with local agencies serving the homeless and hungry. Deadline to register is December 1. Our 9 – 12 graders will return to the Amistad Mission in Bolivia June 24 – July 2 to work with the children at Casa Esperanza. The signup deadline is February 1. The revival and restoration of the Fair Park area neighborhood began as an outreach of Saint Michael and All Angel’s 50th Anniversary. The Challenge of Being a Caregiver – Sunday November 12. Steve Roland of Mind, Heart, and Soul Ministries will discuss the challenge of being a caregiver for loved ones with memory loss. Roland blends practical, science-based and medically-sound advice with a strong statement of God’s presence in caregivers’ lives. His message equips and inspires those on a caregiver journey.
