Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Today we welcome the return of The Rev. Lisa Flores Musser following her maternity leave. She assumes leadership of the Worship and Liturgy Ministry. In the coming days, there will be many opportunities to take part in Saint Michael’s Advent programs and be sure to join us for one of the nine Christmas Eve worship services. Thank you for worshiping with us today. Advent Meditation Booklets Available Now. A new supply of Daily Advent Meditations written by parishioners, staff, and clergy is available at several locations in the church. You can also read them online at www. saintmichael.org. Volunteer for the Senior Christmas Luncheon at Jubilee Park. The annual Christmas Luncheon for the seniors at Jubilee Park is Thursday, December 15 and volunteers are needed to provide food items or help serve at the luncheon. Sign up online at www.saintmichael.org. Heal the Hurt at the Advent Service of Remembrance and Light, December 15. For many, the holidays are a time of hurt; over the loss of a beloved, relationships turned sour, being alone. The Advent Liturgy of Remembrance and Light brings peace, healing, and wholeness in the midst of grief. Join us Thursday, December 15 at 6:00 in Saint Michael Chapel. A reception in the Parlor follows the service. Nativity Pageant Next Sunday at 11:00. The story of the birth of the Christ Child will be performed by Saint Michael’s children and youth at 11:00, next Sunday, December 18 in the church. A Farewell Party following the pageant will honor Emily Given, Director of Children and Family Ministries, who has accepted a position as Director of Participation at an Episcopal Church in suburban Philadelphia. The 11:00 Rite I worship service will be in the Saint Michael Chapel. The Parish Nurse is “In” Next Sunday. Sunday, December 18 is Parish Nurse Sunday. Our Registered Nurses will be in the South Lanai to take blood pressures and answer health related questions. The focus this month is on mental health, stress, and grief awareness. And, it supports Saint Michael’s Mission and Outreach Ministries: The Good Samaritan Fund, Jubilee Park, Rosebud Indian Reservation, Honduras Mission, Amistad Bolivia Mission and Honduras Threads. The St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange in Highland Park Village has the perfect Christmas gift for friends, clients, teachers, neighbors or relatives. Specialty gourmet food gifts are always a hit, and there’s a lot more! Remember, the Exchange is staffed by volunteers and all proceeds go to area charities and Episcopal ministries supported by the Women of Saint Michael. Youth Winter Retreat Signup Deadline Nears. The deadline to register for the Youth Winter Retreat is Thursday, December 15. The retreat, at Camp All Saints, is the weekend of January 13 – 15. The theme is Rooted – learning how to get Rooted into our faith and ministry at Saint Michael. Open to 6th through 12th grades, the emphasis will be on community, learning, and FUN! Parishioners from Saint Michael will be serving lunch to the homeless following The Gathering Sunday worship service at Thanks-Giving Square downtown. Vestry and Diocesan Delegate Nominations Are Open. Nominations are open for people to serve on the Vestry and as delegates to the fall Diocesan Convention. The new Vestry members and Delegates will be elected at the Parish Annual Meeting on February 26. Nominations must be submitted by 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 16. Forms are available from the receptionist and online at www.saintmichael.org. New Enneagram Class Begins in January – Registration Open. A winter Enneagram class will begin January 18 led by The Rev. Mary Lessmann and Mary Ann Webster. The Enneagram is a personality assessment tool that focuses on how we are in a relationship with God and those who are most important to us. Parish Party – February 24 – Get it on the Calendar Now. The Parish Party on February 24 will be STELLAR. Here’s how you can be involved now! (1) Become an underwriter, permitting all proceeds to go to area charities; (2) donate items, such as trips, tickets, or jewelry to be sold at the party; (3) if you’re an artist donate one of your creations for the art auction. Visit the St. Mary's Guild Bake Table in the Lanai on Sunday mornings for treats, and to order holiday trays, cakes and more for teachers, neighbors and your holiday gatherings! As a reminder, 100% of the money raised goes to two non-profit organizations, Hopeful Solutions and Family Outreach Dallas. Remember a Loved One - If you would like to remember a loved one this Christmas, fill out the Flower Memorial envelope in the worship bulletin with the names of those you want to honor either in Memory or Thanksgiving, and return it with your check by Friday, December 16. The remembrance will be printed in the Flower Memorial booklet available on Christmas Eve. Envelopes are available at the South Lanai reception desk. New Mission Outreach Leaders Named. The Mission Outreach Ministry has new chairs of its Leadership Team. Kelly Reddell and Ross Morgan have been named to two year teams as co-chairs. New members joining the Team are Bill Bancroft, Phoebe Moore, and Paige Wilbur. The M/O Grants Committee has named three new members. Betsy Kelly Reddell Cullum, Bill Johnson, and Maria Martin will serve three Ross Morgan year terms beginning in August. Congratulate and thank them for serving.
Christmas Offerings to Go to Outreach Ministries All of the offerings given at Saint Michael’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship services will be equally divided between: Promise House – supporting homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth in Dallas North Dallas Shared Ministries - providing low-income families with programs to achieve long-term stability, wellness, and financial independence. The Anglican Centre in Rome - working with a multi-faith network to combat human trafficking.
