Followers of Christ, Spreading God’s Love

Happy New Year and welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Sunday School with a full menu of classes for adults, youth, and children resumes today at 10:00. We welcome The Rev. Gilberto Junco, Vicar of St. Barnabas parish in Santi Spiritus, Cuba, who will address the Forum in Saint Michael Chapel. In recent years the Cuban parish has been a focus of our Mission and Outreach Ministries. Thank you for worshiping with us today…make it a year-long practice. Rector Search and Transition Committee Status Report. The Rector Search and Transition Committee issued our Parish Profile shortly before Advent, based on the Parish Survey completed in the fall and numerous “town hall” meetings and other listening sessions. The Parish Profile is available online at www.saintmichael.org/profile. As is customary, the Committee must keep completely confidential the names of priests entering into discernment with us to be our next Rector. Nonetheless, the range of impressive priests across the Church who are interested in leading our church excites the Committee as they begin this quiet phase of their deliberations. God has a wonderful next Rector in mind for us! Jubilee Sunday: Celebrating Cultures. We will celebrate the lives of the Jubilee Park community on Sunday, January 31. Our neighbors from Jubilee Park will join us at 11:00 in the church, bringing their rich African American and Hispanic cultures to our worship. Following the service, we will welcome our Jubilee friends to the Chili and Chowder cook-off in Parish Hall. Bishop Suffragan Paul Lambert Announces Retirement. The Rt. Rev. Paul Lambert, Bishop Suffragan of the Dallas Diocese, has announced that he will retire effectively on May 31. He and his wife, Sally, will retire to Monteagle, Tennessee, a rural community near the University of the South in Sewanee. Read his announcement at www.edod.org.

Thank you to the more than 1,100 members who have made their pledges to our beloved Saint Michael and All Angels. Your gifts, make possible over 100 ministries. Pay now or schedule your preferred payment anytime during the year. Over 90% of our church budget comes from pledges of support. • The wine and bread served at Eucharist? They’re provided by you. • Candles, music, and education? They’re provided by you. • Electricity? Clergy and staff salaries? You guessed it. Your gift engages and empowers our parish to love, care, and serve in the name of Christ, helping build God’s kingdom in Dallas and the world.
